Homeschool "Fractions"
Posted in Lifestyle of Learning
Seems false to call myself a homeschooler these days. I have one in public school fulltime and the other there half-time. Does that make me a one-quarter homeschooler?
Despite everything, I still believe I, we, their parents are still our childrens main educators. I still believe their basic values and their love of learning, as well as their skills and tools for learning come from home. So I will continue on in my quest to create a "lifestyle of learning".
And, besides, there are only seven more weeks of public school. Soon they WILL be back home with me! :)

Hi! I laughed at your "fractional" homeschooling :)
From day one we are imparting ourselves and everything else to them. It is just plain good to be a Mom, isn't it? I am looking forward to Summer too.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!
Blessings,
Nancy

I may be really out there, but I have always contended that EVERY parent is a homeschool parent. Some delegate the teaching (all or part) to others, but parents are always teaching their children. I know several parents who have used an institutional setting for their child's entire educational life, but because how they handled that (as well as the hours spent at home), they were so very involved that it was easy to see they were "homeschool parents" at heart! Keep up the good work! And enjoy the summer no matter what the fall has in store for you!
Blessings on the journey!
(and thanks for your comments on my Friday Column on the Company Porch here at Homeschool Blogger.com!)

Jun. 1, 2006 - Another part timer here too

I guess I'm a quarter time homeschooler too. Seven years with the kids home, then I sent them all three to school this year, only to spend half a day a few times a week still working with my youngest. All the kids will be home next year, but attending part time only for some classes. I know some don't consider us homeschoolers at all. We can't listen to them! The most important thing is that we do what we can do for our kids, whether that means they attend school part time or not at all. I totally understand where you are coming from, because I'm there too! Visit my blog http://houseandhomeschool.wordpad.com
