I Want to be a Writer like Nanna

Cynthia Robin has some exciting news. She wrote a moving devotional that I included in The Gift of Family Writing and now she has some young writers sprouting up around her kitchen table.

From Cynthia Robin's blog (Nuggets of Wisdom),

"My 5-year old grandson, Allen, told me the other day that he wants to be a writer like Nanna (that's his name for me), when he grows up. Now, this precious child, as of this day, cannot write his name legibly; But...his dream is to be a writer.; I understand this dream; I treasure this dream. I will help him to achieve his dream, with pleasure and a sense of honor. And I will be using this book [The Gift of Family Writing] to help him; I have already read excerpts of it to him and his sister, and I know it will continue to be of good use to us."

Dearest Jill,

"Thank you. I am enjoying teaching my grandchildren about the beauty and joy that comes from writing and recording our thoughts, our activities, and our life lessons as we learn them. Your book has had a wonderful impact, and I am teaching them to make their own Life Journals. Right now, they are making them out of pictures they cut out of magazines and such and also their own drawings, and then I am writing their stories as they tell them to me. I know that to many this will not seem like much, but I am seeing it as the beginning of a long and productive road in their lives, and am honored the Lord is allowing me this wonderful opportunity."

Blessings,
Jill
