We found this sign on a bus.  You can see that political correctness has not yet been imported over here.  LOL!  I'm sure you are way smarter than I am and immediately know what "gravid" means. It took me a few minutes to figure it out.  Do you know??? I'm sure it comes from a Latin root.

Wow... very interesting.
I had to use the dictionary to look up that word.
Gravid - Latin gravidus, from gravis heavy
1 : PREGNANT
2 : distended with or full of eggs

I learned a new word today... thank you.
Maybe we should consider having those types of signs here in the U.S. I think our current society could learn a thing or two about respecting their elders, the pregnant, and others that have physical challenges.

Thank you for sharing the sign.
I always enjoy visiting your blog and seeing what your life is like over there.

Could it something to do with the picture? Maybe babies? We need someone who can read Chinese!

We had friends just move to China in Jan. and she shares some of these funny stories in emails. The picture gives me a great visual and had me laughing! I too learned a new vocabulary word.
I found your blog from Gena's (the schoolroom contest). I love your schoolroom! I too have to have a place for all our stuff.

Oh, it's so nice to see a lack of P/C and the prescence of manners in a public sign!
