April 21, 2007 - Pyramid Diorama Three Types of Rocks

This pyramid diorama is a great papercraft for student projects!
The idea comes from Dina Zike's Big Book of Books.

I have made a blank template (PDF) for this project which you can find here.  You need four sheets of the template to make a four-sided diorama.  You can use this three dimensional project for the study on any topic!

I adapted it for studying the three types of ROCKS.

This is a project we did quite some time ago, but I wanted to share the files with you. I just recently found a place to upload PDF files for homeschool:  Homeschool Social Network (I don't like that name; it sounds like a sorority or something!) at hslaunch.com.   You can find my uploaded files here.  There you will find the entire ROCK project as well as a Solar System Orbit path page.

Hint -- for the Solar System project, photocopy the orbit paths onto 11" x 17" paper (called A3 here in Asia) and use the planet cut-outs found here.  I printed the planets onto adhesive paper for a really easy poster project!

And if you'd like to see what other homeschool moms have uploaded there at Homeschool Launch, you can look here.  There are a variety of forms, worksheets, and projects. It seems such a wast

Oh, another discovery -- how to make your own PDF files without paying big bucks on Adobe software.  Try PrimoPDF.  This is a free program that will convert any file into PDF format!  Very neat for sharing your files in what is now the standard -- PDF format!

I just never know what nugget of great info I'll find at your blog. My hubby was just saying, "I wish I knew hot to convert my advertising files to PDF," and Voila! Jimmie knows how! Thanks, I forwarded that link to my hubby.
