Theme Smelly
Stinky Tofu -- that's the literal translation. It is so terrible, it makes me literally gag when I get a whiff. I can only imagine what smelling it must be like when you are pregnant.
I seriously think it should be illegal. I am not joking. Worse than a skunk. Worse than stinky fruit -- durian.

But to be honest, this picture is a very, very MILD stinky tofu. I couldn't bear to take a picture of the real thing. It is too terrible. But this one is edible (by me). And smellable. :-)

Oh that stuff is just down right WRONG.
It is truly terrible!! :) Fried is not so bad; it is the stewed stuff that is the most potent.
I once was at the night market with my neighbor and stopped by to eat hot pot with her husband and some of his friends. One of his friends was the stewed stinky tofu vendor guy.
So, I got a great big bowl of the stuff for free . . . and had to consume it IN FRONT of the vendor guy!!! It was SO HARD to make gagging faces and instead smile.
Great photo for the theme!!

Now you must find out what is in stinky tofu! I love tofu-- fried with soy sauce and green onions or in seaweed soup... YUMMY.
I'm just wondering if it's a good stinky or bad stinky. There are several Korean soups/dishes that smell really bad. But to ME they smell delicious because I associate that (apparently) stinky smell with yummy food. Does that make sense?

But I was curious about the plate....is this the Chinese version of a disposal plate? Do you eat it there and give the plate back? When I was in Russia they made you drink the bottle of Pepsi at the vendor and hand the bottle back when you were done....weird.

HI! I so enjoy your blog when I get the chance to look. I'm inspired by your beautiful lapbooks! I've just cut back on some of our 'outside" activities to concentrate more on unit studies...but have not yet begun. You're daughter is adorable! Love, Tara
