• April 1, 2008 - Charlotte Mason Blog Carnival
It may be an April first edition, but it's certainly not for fools. These blog posts are fantastic! I was encouraged, convicted, and inspired as I read them. I know you too will benefit from these posts.
We start off with some nature study posts, an obvious thing to blog about in these lovely days of early spring.
- Barb (Harmony Art Mom) from The Heart of Harmony makes another great contribution to our understanding of nature study with Nature Study-Old Fashioned???. Barb, we all thank you for your amazing way of encouraging us as we develop our CM homeschools. Your blog is an invaluable resource!
You don't want to miss Melissa Telling's concise post, What Is Narration? at Lilliput Station. In it, she gives an insightful analogy from the natural world to explain how narration works. Since narration is a foundation of a CM homeschool, we can all use a few extra reminders and pointers.
Karen Flores allows us a peek into her study of Bambi in By the word of their testimony - Our Crazy Narration posted at Karen Flores. This post is a little bit narration, a little bit nature study, and a little bit living books. Isn't it great when it all comes together?
Here are five lovely artist study and creative arts contributions:
- Amanda presents a fantastic creative arts idea for a Watercolor Collage Project at her blog Hearts and Trees. If you like the artwork of Eric Carle, be sure to bookmark her entry. She outlines exactly how to make your own art in that style.
Three posts about our children's behaviors:
Queen of Carrots presents a very insightful post -- Too Smart for Charlotte Mason? at her blog, Introducing the World. She ponders Charlotte Mason's advice about formal lessons for young children--are there exceptions, or are we misunderstanding her? If you are a mom of little ones, this is a must read.

Here are some posts related to scheduling and otherwise applying CM principles:
And finally a potpourri of subject area and grade level posts:
Enjoy yourselves, perusing the entries this week. Remember everyone loves comments. So if a post is especially meaningful to you, please take the time to leave a little encouragement to the blogger.
Presenters, if you see mistakes I need to fix, please feel free to comment or contact me. |
