April 1, 2008 - Charlotte Mason Blog Carnival

- Barb (Harmony Art Mom) from The Heart of Harmony makes another great contribution to our understanding of nature study with Nature Study-Old Fashioned???. Barb, we all thank you for your amazing way of encouraging us as we develop our CM homeschools. Your blog is an invaluable resource!
- MomToCherubs shares her family's great opportunity for nature study in He Spied A Little Fellow .... posted at Adventures On Beck's Bounty. Be prepared for furry creatures and footprints!

You don't want to miss Melissa Telling's concise post, What Is Narration? at Lilliput Station. In it, she gives an insightful analogy from the natural world to explain how narration works. Since narration is a foundation of a CM homeschool, we can all use a few extra reminders and pointers.
Karen Flores allows us a peek into her study of Bambi in By the word of their testimony - Our Crazy Narration posted at Karen Flores. This post is a little bit narration, a little bit nature study, and a little bit living books. Isn't it great when it all comes together?

- Tina in WA presents Hearts and Trees: Mini Art Lesson at her blog, JETIHOJA ACADEMY. She used Amanda's Cloud Art Study from Hearts and Trees, but of course added her own twist.
- Andrea at Kids and Nature shares how she learned that art is actually simple and doesn't require attending various classes all over town in Art Lessons for Mommy.
- Janelle Renae presents Plants Grown Up: Art posted at Plants Grown Up.
- Amanda presents a fantastic creative arts idea for a Watercolor Collage Project at her blog Hearts and Trees. If you like the artwork of Eric Carle, be sure to bookmark her entry. She outlines exactly how to make your own art in that style.
- Cathy shares her latest sketching experiences in Art at At Home on Basket Flat.

- Kathryn Louis presents Perfect Execution By Kathryn Louis posted at Milestones Academy.
- Cindy presents Habit Training - Chores posted at On Our Journey Westward.
- Amy Lapain at Growing Fruit describes her efforts to improve her son's habit of attention in Attention!!!!! Habits.

Queen of Carrots presents a very insightful post -- Too Smart for Charlotte Mason? at her blog, Introducing the World. She ponders Charlotte Mason's advice about formal lessons for young children--are there exceptions, or are we misunderstanding her? If you are a mom of little ones, this is a must read.

- Training Hearts presents Charlotte Mason filling our gaps! where she fleshes out CM ideals in the practical realities of her own homeschool plans.
- Another very practical post comes from Jill Pettis at Praiseworthy Things. She offers a glimpse into their daily CM schedule in Education in Our Home.
- Leslie Romano presents A "Thinking Love" Turns Me to MEP Math and Completely Transforms Our Homeschool posted at Pockets of the Future Blog.
- My own submission is Poetry in Our Charlotte Mason Homeschool, right in time for National Poetry Month.
- Renae presents her fourth post in a series about math: Revelation- Why Study Math posted at Life Nurturing Education.
- Belinda Letchford presents Tweaking Homeschool Methods for Highschool Students posted at Lifestyle Homeschool.
Enjoy yourselves, perusing the entries this week. Remember everyone loves comments. So if a post is especially meaningful to you, please take the time to leave a little encouragement to the blogger.

Thanks for hosting this time! I wanted to submit something, but just wasn't sure "what" this time and wasn't feeling very inspired. I can't wait to read all of the posts, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.
