March 30, 2008 - My Thoughts on Winter Promise

Since we began using and blogging Winter Promise, I've gotten a lot of questions via comments and email about this fairly new curriculum. I decided to go ahead and compile my thoughts onto a lens: Winter Promise versus Sonlight. I share my own observations about how these two excellent curricula are both different and similar. I'm not an "expert" curricula reviewer, but I'm a mom who has used both, so I felt it may help others for me to post my opinions. And (teeheehee) I can forward people to that webpage rather than retyping my answers over and over.

Thank you so much! What an excellent review. I am strongly considering the WP history hideaways. They look like alot of fun. I will have to keep thinking and praying and researching. Thanks for the help.
Blessings,
Dawn

Great comparison, Jimmie! I think SL and WP are both excellent programs but WP is definitely the right fit for us right now.

WPs new catalog is out. I know you've already purchased your curriculum for the immediate future but they have added some new things and I'm glad to see they are continuing to improve and expand their product.

PS I'd be glad to mail you a copy of the catalog. Just let me know! :-)

Very good review. Thanks for sharing.

I've never used WP, but we did use SL Core 3 last year and really enjoyed it. We do notebooking on our own, but not many other hands-on projects. They do not like anything that involves coloring, cutting, and pasting. They can take or leave many other of the hands-on projects that are history-related. This is fine with me, because that is something I do not enjoy, either! :)

WP does look like a perfect fit for your DD, and for other children that enjoy the activities. We are on to SL Core 5 next year and I am very excited about it.

For whatever reason, Saudi is blocking me from reading your opinion. Sometimes if I type the url in I can get it. Is there any way you can post that for me?
