May 8, 2008 - Field Trip to Lei Cheng Uk Han Dynasty Tomb

Lei Cheng Uk Han Dynasty Tomb is an archaeological site in Hong Kong. It's free, and we HAD to visit it while we're here. Amazingly, no bones or bodies were found inside the tomb -- only shards and such. Fascinating! No one knows what happened to the bodies.

Although the museum is super tiny, it's certainly worth "free"  to stimulate Sprite's interest in archeology. You get to peek inside the dig site through plexi-glass. The tomb is kept super cold. You can feel the air conditioning through the glass. Below is the outside of the tomb, under a protective shelter.

There was a nice video, some posters, and a few artifacts on display.

And Dad even went along on this field trip!

Hong Kong is such a wonderful place -- so many cultural things like this are offered for free. We are doing our best to take advantage of it while we can. We will be going back into China sometime soon. The plans are in the works now.

May 8, 2008 - What.. no more Disney..

Posted by ClagettsFLStyle

Awww.. back to reality huh.. and school. LOL.

When we first moved to FL I found TONS of field trip ideas at Disney. But now with the gas prices, I just can't take off like we used to.. now our field trips are regular museum type things.. at least for now.

This one looks like a lot of fun. I love seeing all your pictures!

This looks like a cool trip out! What fun you get traveling around Asia!! I'm the same about Europe, everywhere we go we have a million field trips (give or take!) Dh is always saying 'But today isnt' a school day' to which I reply every time 'Everyday is a school day'.

McGee is mad gone on archeology at the moment and has been for several months now. We just had a trip two weeks ago to Nottingham Castle for a schools session learning about the archeology that has been done in and around the castle. The boys loved it! From examining bones and old coins to trying on replica suits of armour!!

Cool! My Em will be so thrilled to see these photos. She is chopping at the bit to start her China Unit study ( I am dragging my feet as I want to finish up US history through the Civil War first). Anyway this is fasinating.

May 9, 2008 - Missing China...

Posted by LadyBugAbode

We were in China for two months a couple years ago because my husband's work sent him there (he was there for much longer). It was such an amazing experience, and every time I read your blog I miss it even more! Thanks so much for the virtual tours, I really enjoy them!
