October 12, 2008 - 50 States Notebook
We're making a 50 States Notebook as we go through American history. I made a simple 2 page template and printed it onto cardstock. You can access that on my HS Launch Page.

Sprite uses purchased stickers for the state flags and state birds. I printed images of the state quarters onto adhesive paper for homemade state quarter stickers. And of course, she writes facts onto each page as well.

From our postcard trading days, we have quite an assortment of state map and state capitol cards. We include those as well, using photo corners to stick them onto the blank backs of the notebooking pages.
At the beginning of the book, we're adding in some general information about America. Here are our branches of government, some symbols, and Washington DC.

Have any of you done a 50 states notebook?

We have an ongoing, long-time notebook. Last year I taught a Great States class at our co-op. Here are some of the resources we used: http://smallworldathome.blogspot.com/2008/02/united-states-geography-unit.html

We're very new to homeschooling - we just withdrew my 7 year old/second grade daughter from PS two weeks ago and, coincidentally, have just started a State Studies notebook ourselves. I hope my daughter has as much fun with hers as yours does.

We started one last year that I really ended up not liking, so I'm about to start another one. :-)
