December 14, 2008 - Christmas Chinese Style
Yes, Christmas has come to China. There are signs all over town. First, the trees. Trees in all colors and with decorations that make Charlie Brown's Christmas tree look down right fancy.
at the post office, we spied this gold one

Inside our main supermarket, we found this sparsely decorated silver one.

And the employees are wearing Christmas hats!
What? You don't wear these pointy hats for Christmas?

Hope this puts you in the Christmas Spirit -- Chinese Style! I'll share more about Christmas in other posts.

Well, Christmas IS a celebration of Christ's birth, right? Ofcourse, they probably don't know that.

I found this one fascinating. ;) I am surprised that there were any trees, as it's such a Western thing, but hooray that you see something vaguely familiar around the holidays.

LOL - Oh, those are some SAD little trees.
I think we had New Year's hats like that once -but not for Christmas.
I have a friend who is also an ''ex-pat' in China right now, and I'm having fun 'comparing' your adventures. You both have some great stories and photos to share!
Have a Blessed Christmas,
Michelle

We taught in China for six months. In December, we went to Guilin, to Yangshuo, to act like tourists and to finally eat cheese. While we were there, we were bemused by a procession thorough Xi Jie, of a group surrounding a man toting a huge cross. We could only assume somehow Easter had morphed into Christmas!
All the best with your homeschooling!
