April 5, 2009 - The Fish Head Rock

Do you see it? When I photographed it, it was merely a rock with algae and some barnacles. But after I uploaded it, I was amazed to see a fish's head!

There's a word for seeing images inside something else --pareidolia.
If you're interested, browse the Pareidolia Flickr group where you can see other pics like this. Sometimes I can't see what I'm supposed to see, but Sprite always can! She's got an eye for pareidolia. She's constantly seeing faces or animals in inanimate objects. It's part of her visual-spatial gifting.

April 5, 2009 - M bag

I saw that you got an M bag from the States. We thought we were going back to the States this summer and now we aren't so I have to figure out how to get all those books over here! Was it expensive? How long did it take? The price for airmail M bag is quite expensive to China, but I assume there is a surface mail price that's cheaper. I can't find the price though. Thanks!

April 6, 2009 - A suggestion

I did see the fish head and it was exciting! Very cool and I didn't know there was a name for that. I suggest you look at the book, "Duck! Rabbit!" with Sprite. It's geared for younger kids but she may find it entertaining: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPCoe-6RRks

April 6, 2009 - Very cool!

I saw the fish head right off--very neat! I wish I could get a good pic of a tree that we pass on the way home from the in-laws. There's a place where the tree has obviously been hit by a car in the past, and at night it looks like a face when the lights shine on it right. Kinda' eerie....I tried taking a pic once, but it just doesn't photograph well. Maybe I'll try it again soon, since you told us that there is actually a name for that!

That is really cool! My oldest is like Sprite, and he was a puzzle whiz at the age of 2. Me? Ha!

I love taking pictures then seeing something else in them when you download them. Check out my cloud pictures I took last year.

Before I read the beginning of your post I looked at the pic and marveled at this fish's camouflage abilities.

My first thought was "what kind of fish is that?" So yeah, at first glance I thought it really was a fish.
