Balloon Festival- 16 April
Most of the family decided to get up early on Monday morning to go out and watch the hot air balloons take off near the lake and Old Parliament House. So, at 5.30am, I went in and roused the children. Zachary looked at me, somewhat bewildered and said, "Why would I want to do that? It's the middle of the night!"  Well, he ended up coming because he was awake and we travelled into town in the grey, half-light before dawn.

The balloons start to take shape

Seeing the flame is always captivating...

Some of the family members crazy enough to be up at this time of day. Yes, it started off quite cold! I'm only going to add a few more photos to highlight some of the balloons on display. All were favourites in our group, for different reasons.

The Liberty house was unusual and even had a cat sitting on the roof.

The football balloon was highly rated and went up into the air like a rocket - good shape for take-off! The highest balloon was dubbed the "licorice all-sort" balloon by Zac.

and well, who couldn't like the Mike balloon?
