Happy Mother's Day

Posted in Homeschool life

Hope you all had a blessed day surrounded by your loved ones!

This tradition is celebrated differently in our house. My dear husband doesn't like to feel tied down to any particular day to give me flowers or for the children to give me cards. "Every day is Mother's Day", he says. In previous years I have had Mother's Day in September or June or whenever Andrew gets around to it!

This year, I got a cup of tea in bed on the official Mother's Day. Our pastor wished all the mums a happy day at church and then we came home for lunch. At the table, we talked about Mother's Day and I mentioned that although it didn't *have* to be today, I still like getting things from my children. I leant over to Zac and said, "It's nice just to get a card from you to say thanks, you know."  He just smiled.

Next thing, Andrew pulls out some cards and says that I may as well have them today. He told me they had written the cards a while ago. I opened one and it said "Hope you have a nice time at the coast" and another one said "Hope you have a safe trip back". I looked up and Andrew and he said, "Remember when you went down to the coast with Donna in February? We worked on them then."

I really enjoy my surprise Mother's Day and the fact that the kids share this "secret and special" time with their Dad. They love catching me out with it and I was certainly overcome this year.

I did buy myself a big banquet frypan for Mother's Day but my official pressie was this:

A portable scrapbooking/craft bag on wheels. Very handy for going to craft days on Fridays. The boys were quite happy to see this as usually they have to lug all my gear out the door!!
