I received some more news from Knowledge Quest about the Colonial Times book. Some of you will remember I contributed a chapter to this on James Cook. This is from their newsletter: We are so excited to announce the publication and arrival of our newest title - What Really Happened in Colonial Times. This is our third book in this series of historical biographies geared for children in grades 3-8 and suitable for family read-aloud times. This book covers the time period from 1600 - 1850. We are giving away the first chapter here - www.knowledgequestmaps.com/wrhcolonial.htm Here is what Little Bear Wheeler has to say about it: "If you love history like I love history, then you will really enjoy this book. As the third book in the What Really Happened series, it delivers what you would expect - inspiring biographies, beautiful illustrations and great maps. Not only are the stories historically accurate, but they are lively and entertaining as well. Read this book aloud to your family and you will better understand this exciting time in history." - Your fellow pilgrim, Richard "Little Bear" Wheeler, Mantle Ministries All of our What Really Happened... books come in paperback or ebook format. A friend of mine. Janette Cassey Ingham, has passed on this great link on James Cook. I wrote a biography on Cook for What Really Happened in Colonial Times and it will be published later this year. I am hoping to put together further links and information to complement both of the biographies - on Constantine and Cook so that they can be studied in more depth than the 6000 word limit I was allowed! I'll try and post them in the relevant category but my Colonal Times link doesn't seem to be working right now... So, if you want more information on Cook, try this site: http://www.captcook-ne.co.uk/ccne/index.htm You might like to look at what Janette is doing as well. Her site is listed on the left hand side. She has written some short narratives to go with her history pictures. |

Some of you know that last year I wrote a biography about Constantine and that was published in What Really Happened in Ancient Times. I also spent the second part of last year working on another biography about James Cook. It was accepted during the past week and will be published in the next book called What Really Happened in Colonial Times. Cooks' Cottage - where James spent his childhood in Great Ayton. This cottage now resides in the Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne. Statue of Captain James Cook.Though an Englishman who spent more time in New Zealand than here, Australians have largely adopted him as our own. Both of these books are put out by Brambley books, the publishing arm of Knowledge Quest. I have a link to their page if you want to have a look. |
