Nov. 2, 2006 - Pride and Prejudice |
| Posted by totustuus |
Yes, Pride and Prejudice is a great book...I thoroughly reading it!
I always thought the same, that Mr. Darcy had the pride and Lizzy had the prejudice. But, I suppose they each have both in some ways.
I think that if I could live in any other time period...that would be one of my top 5 to choose from! lol I love how they used to talk back then, and how the women wore dresses, and the men stood up when ladies entered the room, and women would play the piano and sew and learn French ("ladies are so accomplished!")...
As for the movie...I enjoyed watching the new one, but I didn't like it HALF as much as the old A&E version. The old one is SO much more true to the book...the book is practically the movie script!
Well, I have to stop yapping and get on with my schoolwork...talk to you soon!
~Sylvia~

I haven't read the book, yet. I've only read Jane Austin's "Emma" so far.
But I plan to read "Pride & Prejudice". I've seen both movies many times, though.
I thought that they both seemed to have a bit of pride & prejudice.
It is a very good story and I look forward to reading it.
I love that time period!
I've enjoyed visiting your blog.

Nov. 2, 2006 - "Dorks with low IQs of the world unite!" |
| Posted by ThreeLittleLadies |
Hey, sister. I must say that the name "dork" and the practice of putting a number on our intelligence are both standards of the world that are not putting onesself in the eyes of Jesus and His standards. You my sister, are created in the image of God and are being brought from glory to glory. However He made you - and I see a beautiful sister both outwardly and inwardly - you are to use what He has given you giving the best for His glory. Those hip folks with high IQs won't have anything on you on judgment day if you do.
God made you and loves you just the way you are, and so do I. If He wanted you to fit into the world's standards of "not a dork" with a "high IQ" He would have created you that way. I bet He thinks a lot higher of you than you do of yourself. Let Him tell you the truth about yourself, and then believe it.
In Christ,
Carol |

This is the last time. Promise! REALLY! Were you refering to me as the twelve year old that got a higher IQ than you? If you were, it was like, maybe 10 points up from yours! Big deal! And I'm NEARLY the writer you are, or the blogger you are. Just because I'm know a few random facts doesn't mean anything!

| You know what I say? IQ - Shmy-Q...honey, you are one intelligent young woman. Wise beyond your years! And, you can write!!! I admit, I'm 46 and have never read P&P, but have watched the movie twice and loved it! I always had this fantasy of sitting on a comfy couch, with hot coffee and reading the book...I didn't want the movie to end. Keep reading and writing voraciously like you do, you'll always have a sharp mind and don't worry about the IQ tests. |

| I have to post one more thing about IQ tests...I have learned that one can be smart in the "I know lots of things and facts" way, but you have to have common sense, be able to think for yourself and anaylze. But, most importantly, you have to have God in your heart...without that no amount of smarts is going to get you true peace and happiness. But, you know what, I think you already know that!! Ok, I just didn't want you getting all down because of an IQ test :) |

Thanks for posting a comment on my blog. I got it up last month... I'm not done with it... I plan to put some more pics on it. I like your blog, it's cute. I love your hair too. I wish my hair was curly, whenever i curl it... It doesn't hold the curls... My hair is naturally wavy, but I always straighten it, so it doesn't hold any curls when i fix it up, lol. Got to go.

Just coming back by your blog.
Your iq number has nothing to do with your personality. Actually, dont worry if your iq is arround 100 that is the average for adults.
Couldnt you please tell me what your iq is? I told you mine and you said if I told you would tell yours. No pressure. :)

Thank you for the advice, to wade through the first three chapters.
I have been wanting to buy P&P and read it.
Today I found a copy of P&P at a thrift shop for $1.99, yippee.
You are wise to read a variety of good books. It will be a fabulous investment.
Blessings,

Hey, sorry its been so long! I have the pride and prejudice book too... (however you spell that) I'm in the middle of LOTR right now so I'll give it a shot when I'm finished with that. So how have you been? I know what you mean when you say you like to write more than read... I'm the same way. :) I like reading but its not my thing. My mom says I'm good at writing, but its not something that I absolutely LOVE to do! Its fun when I'm in the mood.
Well gotta jet

Hello,
Thank you for leaving a comment! It was fun to hear from you. I apologize for neglecting my blog for so long. I was selling costumes at a bazaar this weekend and was rather busy. How are you doing? I hope you are doing well.
I’m trying to make some updates on my blog and hopefully I shall find time this week.
I need to add lots more pictures and ideas, but I’m working on it. I have lots of pictures of my own I need to add as well. My capes were a huge success this weekend so I was very pleased about that.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Brielle
P.S.
I love reading Pride and Prejudice….I’ve almost read all of Jane Austen’s published work.

Thanks for commenting!! I have watched the movies of P&P but never read the book. But you make it sound completely awesome...I think I'll read it now!! I have to admit...I did think that Mr. Darcy was the Pride....I don't really know why but he just seems so full of himself in all the movies I've watched. I saw the old version....new version....and spoof! LOL....I don't know if the spoof counts or not.
I wish I had your speed for writing a short story....however it takes me forever to write anything!! lol.
until later

Do you have any other ideas for how to make my blog look better?
Thanks so much….

Nov. 12, 2006 - I Like Books |
| Posted by purpleprincess |
I am reading a series of books called "The Chronicles of Kings". Its historical fiction about biblical kings: Ahaz, Hezekiah, Mannasseh, etc. You should read them. They are really good. I am up to book four. You can find them on Christian Book Distributor's website.
I have not read P & P, but I saw the movie. My dad did not understand why we liked such a "girly" movie. I think he actually DID like it, but did not want to admit it. My mom and I LOVED it. I will have to try reading it sometime.
My mom says to tell you that she read Jane Eyre when she was pregnant with me. It also, was hard to get into at first, but well worth the read!
