Apr. 11, 2007 - ~ Congratulations!!!~

What a beautiful baby sister!

I'm sorry I'm so far in the back of the crowd...our schoolroom computer became extremely ill (it had 1,400 viruses on it!). I was doing a lot of website work on it too, and now all of that is lost. We won't have the computer back for awhile. I'm using my dad's laptop right now.

MAY GOD BLESS,
~Amanda~

Consider visiting www.behindthename.com if you want to research the meaning and origin of some good names. I'm sure it's not 100% accurate, but I have a lot of fun on that site!

I too have been blessed to read what you write, but you know that of course! You're right, we should be aiming to encourage and edify others, and blogging is a great way to do that.

You're really on the campaign trail, aren't you? :-) I posted and voted for you.

Love,

Hi Joc,

As far as goat feed goes we go to a mill in Tazewell that has a great (and cheap) grain mix. It is 14% sweet feed. The stuff really makes the van smell good (haha!), and looks good enough to grind for human consumption. :D

Our goat schedule looks like this (starting in the afternoon):

2:00- separate kids from does. When we first started, we separated them at 7:00 PM so we could milk at 7:00 AM...We are moving the time back slowly.

7:00 PM- Milk both goats while they eat about 1 pound of grain. At night, we only get about 1/2 - 1 quart of milk.

Keep babies separated.

7:00 AM- Milk both goats while they eat about 1 pound of grain.

Release babies, and repeat.

Well my parents didn’t say "no" they didn’t talk yet either though. I think that if we did come, it would be on Sunday. I don't know where we would stay though, we would have to stay somewhere Sunday, and then go home on Monday. It would be really fun if we could visit, I want to see the baby! Does she have a name yet?

Hello! Wow, that is so neat that you recieve such encouraging letters like that! You and your sister both seem like amazing girls, and wonderful Godly role models! Me, my sister, and my mom really enjoy reading your girls blog!

Oh, btw, my mom does have a blog, she just never keeps up on it. Her screen name is blessedmommy (I think the last time she posted was like a month ago)!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Ok, I get the hard job, convincing my parents... I'll give it a go though. I think that Dad would be the easier one to convince. Once I have him on my site, I think I might be able to pull Mom over. =D

Come over to the dark side mommy. Lol!

Nothing in particular lead me to write that last post. It's just something I've been thinking about.

I actually think many, many Christians misunderstand "in and not of". They think that it means "in", as in living on Earth, "but not of", as in being as little like the world as possible. I don't think this is the correct interpretation.

Paul does say to be "all things to all people", so I believe that we should strive to fit into the current culture as much as possible without falling into sin. I think this is what "in and not of" means. Now, there are obviously many things that go on nowadays that we simply have to avoid because they are sinful, but there are also many things that we should not avoid simply because they are a common part of the culture. It would seem that Jesus and his disciples were very in touch with the culture of the day, without sinning, and they had a very powerful ministry.

Yes, weesma and I live near each other. I see her at least once a month.

Dear Jocelyn,

I'm so excited for you in the arrival for your baby sis! Congratulations!I hope you can pick a good name. I personally like the name Elizabeth (or you can spell it the British way, which I prefer: Elisabeth) which I believe means "gift of God". I also like Hannah and Marie (as a middle name).

Long Live Aslan!
Till later,
~NG

Yes, that is really neat about your new sister! I just haven't had time to comment you. I found out about it off of superangel/amanda's blog and then I came over here to comment you as well but I had to get off the computer.

You know, whem I first started reading your blog I had no idea you only started a year ago! I thought it must have taken at least ten years to accumulate all those comments! : )

Do you have a name for your sister yet? I think your right not to pick names that start with the same letter. Three of my sisters in a row start with K and it's really confusing for people who are just getting to know us.

Hello Jocelyn,
Thank you for visiting my realm…
I want to thank you for nominating me….I hope that you and your sister do will with the voting results.

I haven’t had time to blog lately…Costume making has been fun and crazy. The performance starts in one week and tomorrow we have tech rehearsal …so some of the actors will get to try there costumes on for the first time. I was nervous about it but, I delivered the last of my costumes today...and thankfully everyone was pleased with them…oh, I also get to design and make the white witch, but I have three days!!!!!! So I hope and pray that goes well…

Well have a wonderful day ….
Sincerely,
Brielle
P.S.
I will be praying for Heather…thank you for mentioning that in your post.

What's up Jocelyn? I haven't heard from you in a while. Sorry that we weren’t able to come, mom and dad said no. I think that we might be able to come next month, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure about anything. =S Anyway, I can learn to play the guitar better this month, then I can teach you when I come.

I got an e-mail from a mom once, who told me that she loved reading my blog, and that she could relate to the things my family was going through. There was more, and it made me feel so great that I had unknowingly encouraged someone.

Another time, I posted the lyrics to a song, and a lady commented and said that that was just what she needed to read, and that it was amazing how the Lord could use a young girl to help her. I felt SO great at being used by the Lord to encourage someone I'd never even met. I hadn't planned on posting those lyrics; I just felt like I should.

I hear of stuff like that happening, and then it happens to me, and it really drives home the fact that God is everywhere, that He can work in any situation. Even a blog. :-)

Hello Jocelyn! This was a good post. I think about this quite often... how God has literally surrounded me with girls younger than myself and given me so many opportunities to be a godly role model! It's challenging and a little scary sometimes, if you know what I mean. I think it's important to remember that if we are to be godly examples, we must look up to godly examples!
Congratulations on the birth of your little sister! Any ideas for names yet? She is really sweet!
Have a great day,
Ashley

Thanks for sharing the blessing of encouragement over at my blog. ;) I have to say that both Sprittibee and I were very impressed with your blog when we discovered it in the HSBA nominations. I think my almost-fifteen year old daughter will find a friend in you, so I am sending her your way. She has a passion for Tolkien, too, by the way. God bless you and your family. -Firefly
