I am sorry, you must have gotten me and someone else mixed up! I didn't create the 8x award.
Thanks for the compliment for my template! My sister, Anne (http://allanne.com), made it for me.

Jul. 26, 2007 - Note from Brielle |
| Posted by BrielleCostumes |
Hello Jocelyn,
I really enjoyed your post…we watch a lot of war movies and history movies in our house…one of our favorites is a series called Band of Brothers. It is a true story about a group of men during WWll. Very realistic and sometimes sad, but I think they are the best out there for telling the story of the war through the eyes of men that fought it and the main character is Christian man that leads is company through the war….very good series….has some language and violence, but because is s a true story that seems to not matter.
I love the Patriot … Yes; I agree Saving Private Ryan is sad…
And we love National Treasure….did you know they are making a second National Treasure? That should be fun….
Well I am working on my post so I’ll let you know when I get it done….
Mom and I went to the fabric store today and I found the most awesome deal!!! I’ve very excited!!!! I found fabric that looks really close to Arwen’s green that she wears at the end of Return of the King. ….so that will be so much fun to make….plus the best part was the velvet fabric was on clearance for $3 a yard….anyway just wanted to say that. :) lol..
I hope you and your family are having a good day.
Talk to you later,
Brielle

I enjoyed your movie review so much. I cried through most of the Private Ryan movie too. I watched it twice in one day so I could see all that I missed the first time. My dad was in the Korean Conflict and served in Vietnam for 5 years...from 1952-1957.. I should post his pictures sometime. I've been putting it off for a while now, so maybe I'll do that shortly. Great post!!! I love National Treasure too and most of the others you mentioned I've seen as well. Thank you!~

Well, actually, when I was writing about how harsh we can all be, I was specifically remembering a harsh criticism I wrote in an e-mail to my dad (when he was out of town) about my younger brother about 3-4 years ago. I was right to an extent, but only in a Pharisee like way because the issue at stake was so small. What I said about Joseph was similar to what you said about you-know-who, bizarrely enough. Now that I think about it, I don't think I worded that portion of my comment very well. My sister Rachel noticed it too. I only meant that I am sure many of us are just as guilty as you in that way.
No, I haven't done anything online that I can recall, especially not anything related to HSB. Not anything that would affect anyone outside of my family. But my point was, I can completely relate to what you must have been feeling.
Yes, my review of your blog in my last comment was over the top. But that was deliberate! I think we should all, in a sense, be over the top. We have to raise standards - especially as corrupt as the internet is now. No, we don't glorify ourselves - but we have to be clean and polished mirrors to reflect CHRIST.
I hope I didn't bother you with that - I've had people tell me some really over the top compliments before in person and it sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable and irritated.
Take care and keep in touch!
GOD BLESS,
~Amanda~ |

Oh thanks! I will surely love my new cookware...start filling your new Hope Chest with some of those too...They'll last you at least the first 20 years of your marriage. LOL I love the art stuff too...I'm slowly posting some of my own artwork on the nancysnook2 site...it's not very good, yet! But my friend Carol who is an artist and my brother-in-law are both working with me. I speak to Mrs. Novak at least once a work and have her prayers and support in my journey as well, she's such a wonder-filled woman. Glad your mother liked the banner...I was going to do the lettering but wasn't sure what she'd like..I send her a sample and she can use it if she wants. Christs love always,

Thank you! I love how curly your hair is in every picture.
I cryed sooooooooo hard during Saving Private Ryan! and I was all by myself! no shoulder to cry on! *sadness* It was a great movie though. There was another one I saw which was pretty sad. I think it was Black Hawk Down. I don't remember. Anyway, Pearl Harbor was pretty sad too but I saw it on tv and they cut alot of stuff out. Which is actually good cause it was rated R.
I know this is not a "war" movie but I watched Flight 93 the other day on the History channel. I watched like 5 mins of the first hour and I HAD to change it. So sad.
Anyway I need to cheer up now :)

Hello Jocelyn,
This was a very good post. You did a great job recording all of the references in National Treasure, that is such a good movie!
I have seen the Patriot, and the end of Saving Private Ryan. I think that the Patriot is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I need to watch the rest of Saving Private Ryan.
Another good WWII movie series is Band of Brothers. It is a true story about an American Regiment called Easy Company. It starts out when they are in training and follows them to the end of the war. There is typical war movie swearing, but not nearly as bad as some ,and the leader of Easy Company is a Christian (He is ,infact, respected for the stands he makes). This is a very long series (I think about 8 movies) and it was made by the History channel. You may want to ask Brielle about it if your interested. (she has watched it more than I have and could give you a better review, and correct some of the things I got mixed up)
Another good Historical War movie series is Horatio Hornblower, but I believe Brielle already told you about that. =)
Love to hear from you,
Rose |

Thanks!
My granpa was in WWII also. He survived as well. But he died before I was even born.
I've always been very facinated about WWII and have read every book about it that I can get my hands on. I just find it the most intresting of the whole wars. It's very sad though. Especially after you read a book about Pearl Harbor.
And my dad tells me a lot bout it too. He likes to read about it too, and will read over my shoulder for forever if I'm rading about it.
Love,
Sami |

How tall are you? I was just curious, I am 5' 5".

I've always had a passion for military stuff. I'm not sure what drives that passion but I have a great respect for all the men who've fought.

Hi Jocelyn,
Haha, thanks! I like many different kinds of music, but I don't like hip hop and rap and R&B, and a lot of the stuff that's played on mainstream radio.
That's cool. I'd love to be "in". :) lol
Good for you! What will you write for the magazine?
I've never seen Saving Private Ryan because it's rated R, though I know my parents have seen it many times. But I have seen Flyboys and National Treasure (a sequel is supposed to come out sometime this year). It is sad to think of all the soldiers that died in WWII, and WWI, and all the wars following. We can't do anything but admire them and support them for their bravery and patriotism. My step-grandfather (my dad's step-dad) was in WWII, but he never talks about it because it hurts him too much. Though he does tell us that he owned a monkey when he was stationed in some islands. hehe
I hope your great grandfather find the Lord, too. I'll be praying!

We don't watch too many war movies, but I like the idea of watching the movies you did before the 4th for the history in them. I have seen National Treasure - that's a good one. And The League of Grateful Sons movie from VF is really touching. Our church showed that last year.
I didn't know Brielle lived a state away! That's neat. I'm really not lonely (lol), and I'm glad about all the people you're getting to meet. :-D
I may not be online much next week, just so you know, but I'll talk to you soon!

I always cry hard when I watch war movies. It reminds me just how much our freedom costs. One of the saddest is Cold Mountain. It is definatly for way older people though, because of violence and a really big sex scene. National Treasure is one of my favorites too.

Hey!
Yep, I have a blog here, too! I actually started out here, but when they updated, I couldn't get a thing to work properly for me so I moved to homesteadblogger. I'm slowly starting to reconnect with my friends from here--fun! Anyway, thanks for stopping by and I will add you also. You mentioned my green background and I actually have a dark floral background. The green is my border color. I wonder if it didn't load completely for you? It's no biggie, it just made me wonder if anyone could see it!

Oops! I meant to comment about the movies... Did you know that there will be a sequel to National Treasure? It involves the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. We're looking forward to it. I also loved The Patriot. Did you watch Pearl Harbor? It was long, and there were a couple of "questionable parts" but it was also a good movie.

Yes, I did know they are making a 2nd National Treasure! I am really excited! I didn't know it what it's about, exactly.. I should look it up!
We did not see Pearly Harbor... it's next on my list though! Mom and dad watched it a few years ago and it was too much for us to watch at the time. I think we may be able to watch it now!
HappyMama:
I'm in %100 agreement with your son! lol
And, yes, do look out for the ones I listed... very good movies!

I like National Treasure, I saw it last summer.
My Grampa was fighting in WWII. He flew the planes above the Japanese, He had many narrow escapes.
Well, Saturday is a very busy day for us so I don't blog on Saturdays. Otherwise I would be signed up now.

That was a very interesting detailed list. We've watched National Treasure as a family, but the R rating has kept me from adding too many of the others for everyone yet.
I just finished a book I got free (paperbackswap.com) called The Nazi Officer's Wife by Edith Hahn Beer. It is very detailed on how things were over there from the Jewish side of life. Parallel Journeys is also good.
"The empires of Pharoaoh, Caesar,... Hitler-- each flourished,... and was distroyed... but all forgot one thing: that the only civilization which can endure is a free one..." - from "On a Note of Triumph" prose by Norman Corwin. |

I can't believe what horrors war brings to men. My grandpa was a Guadalcanal, and from his stories it was pretty bad. Just being in the corrupt army is a horror!
