Interesting entry. I don't know much about hope chests, so I'd love to read an ebook about them! Will you post a link after you're done?
I do have one question about hope chests though- what if you're called to be single? What good is a hope chest to a single woman? Or is the concept of a hope chest useful in the sense of preparation for adulthood, not just marriage?

I hope that all goes well with the Hope Chest. Thank you for leaving a comment. From what I've gathered from a geologrsphical and an agricultural study that I've done on the US, Indiana has a very large faming community, very much like the Shire. Your blog is very Lord of The Ringsish (if that's even a word lol) and mine would be Eragonish. Eragon is a fantasy movie, one that I like. Christianmusician1 and I are into Eragon.... Brisingr!!!=Fire! (If you see the movie some time, you'll see what I mean.) Anywho, as you may already know, I try and make people laugh. I also am not the kind to take advantage of the other person, aka I don't make fun of others, and it’s not what Jesus would do. He would probably laugh WITH them not AT them.

Matt/Eragon

Matthew 7:12

12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Hey Jocelyn!

Nice post. :-) An ebook is an excellent idea!

At the moment, I'm using a small chest that my grandmother gave me for a hope chest. Daddy is going to build me a bigger one once we have the time, space, and money. :-) So I don't technically have my 'real' hope chest yet...... so it wouldn't count as anything to write about, would it? :-)

I live in Tennessee, even though I think you already knew that. LOL

Blessings,
Becca

Jocelyn,

Don't worry; I understand. I haven't been able to get on here for a couple of days, too.

I am awaiting your template...

I don't have a hope chest - yet. I have started thinking about making one. I think I might be a little young right now though. I can't wait till your e-book is finished!

Ok, I'm confused - you have your own e-mail address? I understand if it's private...

And, I posted about a pretty amazing experience we had last week.

Love ya,
Kylie

How neat that you are writing an ebook! I'm sure it will turn out great. Don't forget to include lots of pictures for people like me [read: idiot]. :D

I don't have a hope chest, but I do have a "treasure box" which has little knick knacks that are special to me. If other people saw the items in it, they would probably think it was silly, but each thing means something to me.

Paulie has one too, and half of the contents are from me! haha.

Thanks for the comment! Actually, I do feel a tad bit older, but not much. hee hee

I have a hope chest. In my hope chest, I have put inside of it my mom and dad's baby books, my baby dresses, and nessecities for when I get older. You know, the normal stuff. :) It is full, too.

I'm a Floridian! ;)

My Dear Jocelyn,

It is so nice to hear from you, even when I am absent. Thank you for continuing to comment.

I am sure the grammar in your novel is not that bad! If your posts are any evidence, your grammar is usually very good.

I have a "hope chest in progress". It has several things in it, including my journals I have written over the years. So far I keep my hope chest things in different places. I do not have an actual chest.

You have been awarded the Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award! Come to my blog for details!

That's ok about not replying - I understand, and anyway you sound like you're really busy, what with goats and hopechest making, and a big family! :)
Someone told me that clorox would work on the mildew but it has such a strong smell, I didn't have the "guts" to try again after the first go! :) My cousin Jenna gave me a magic eraser, one of those white sponge things that you use with water until it dissolves... I'll have to try that and see what that does.
If you read my other post, about the water flooding.... We're slowly getting that taken care of, thankfully! :) We just have this gross musty smell. Oh well, at least it'll be dry in winter.... that, and no bugs are what I look forward to for winter/fall. Not looking so much forward to freezing cold, but cool I can do... I can wear my sweaters then!
Anyway, I'm babbling. The commenting system works well! haha
Anyway, thanks for the message, and I'll talk to you later. I look forward to hearing more about the hopechests!

Jocelyn,
I just wanted to say that I have been to your blog quite a bit recently and have enjoyed it. I finally started a blog of my own, so I figured that now that I have someone to be identified as, I ought to identify myself rather than press the backbutton:-)
God Bless,

Writing an e-book?! That's fantastic! I may send you a little testimonial about my hope chest if I can find the time.

And I love your idea of a list of bloggers and what state they live in! I've wondered if anyone had done that already. May I join? I'm a Texan and I'm proud of it (even though I sadly do not have a very pronounced Texas accent ;-)!

Thank you for the blog help! Sorry you couldn't see my new background but if you get the chance, please do come back and let me know what you think!

Joyfully yours, Melanie

P.S. I hope you don't mind, I added you to my friends list. God bless!

A hope chest.... Oh you mean a box? I thaught you meant a chest as in the chest that gorillas thump on. Cheerio, I'd like to help, but I don't know anything about hope chests, is it like a tresure box?

I have two actually - One I got a few years back, and used for the traditional stuff before my wedding this past summer.

The other was my husband's paternal grandmother's. She had died many years ago, and her husband died about a month before my wedding. My father-in-law let my husband and I have it as they were cleaning out the house - it's a beautiful cedar chest that's in almost perfect condition. We use it now to store his maternal grandmother's handmade quilts in!

Hello Jocelyn,
Thank you for the comment.
I'm glad you like your bonnet, it turned out very cute.

I infact, do have a hope chest. At the moment it has a very large set of dishes in it...,but It is a work in progress. =) Brielle's mother (my Aunt Deanna) gave me the dishes, they were a wedding present to her from her Grandmothers. She was running out of space to keep them ( 20 sets of dishes, and other things such as salt and pepper shakers take up quite a bit of space). Aunt Deanna would have given them to Brielle, but they weren't her colors...so I got the dishes. =) In the near future I'm going to embroider some dish towels, and sew an apron for my chest. It is so fun making things for it. =)

I hope you have lots of fun making and filling your hope chest....
Love your friend,
Rose J.

Well, I would really really like one, but what if I never got married? That chest would sit there taunting me for the rest of my life. And, well, what if I never used any of the things in it because my interests changed? I'd like to hear what you have to say on those questions.

My boys love their treasure chests! Their first ones were empty baby wipe containers that they decorated with stickers and marker. It was just big enough to hold their small treasures-- marbles, coins, rocks and hotel keycards that daddy gives them when he comes back from a trip.

As their collections got bigger, so did their boxes! First I tried just giving them a drawer, but it wasn't big enough. So I added some canvas cube boxes-- a different color for each child. *sigh* Still more stuff to hold. Only this time, I'm going to make them go through their junk... er, treasures and throw some stuff away! We shouldn't hold so tightly to our worldly possesions, right? ;-)

I can't wait to see your finished masterpiece!

Love,
