I have been busy preparing for a science co-op class starting this Friday. I have decided to teach on Bones, Muscles and Skin. I have been using some online resources to prepare for this and I thought I would share these sites and some others.
First, I would like to recommend Lesson pathway. I few weeks ago I was able to join in a panel of beta tester for this site, and I am really glad I took on the opportunity. They have a great array of resources for K-12 on lots of school subjects. It is a payed membership but they do have some free stuff and offer a trial.
Second, would be a site called KidsHealth, which contains great free info, articles and movies on subjects related to our body and how it works.
Thirdly, I've used the science curriculum we are presently using, Classic Science.
Fourthly, is abcteach which is a great resource for the classroom for K-12. It has worksheets, activities, with a make your own option. It is a payed membership as well, but I took advantage of a promotion at the Homeschool Buyers Co-op, which was offering 1/2 the normal price (On until tomorrow). Check it out. I am glad I finally joined.

As homeschoolers, we are all concerned about making sure our kids cover all the material they need to acheive academic success. This is especially true for those who do not buy curriculum in a box. As a new homeschooler, I am certainly in that category. So, I have researched and found a few sites that give lists of standards for each grade level. Please, these are guidelines, therefore, let us not fall into the trap of being uptight about achieving these standards and forget the joy and freedom of homeschooling, i.e spontaneity and a dose of child-led direction.
This is a site where you can find a whole lot of free posters, games, lessons and more on a wide variety of subjects. Check especially the free for kids/teachers section.

Still on the subject of freebies, I had previously posted about a freebie site called Homeschool freebie of the day where you can get a freebie everyday. Well, this week line up sounds pretty good: money management guide, kids' recipes, a classic story book of manners, an e-book on birthday parties and a Benjamin Franklin's classic essay for young people in Audio form.
I hope you find these links useful. Let me know what you think.
Saw this on one of the blogs that I visit and had to check it out. It is a toolbar that you can download onto your computer that allows you to access a whole lot of cool stuff for homeschoolers in just a click. Here is a more detailed description:
I am a christian wife and mother to 2 beautiful young boys who just started on the homeschooling journey. My desire is to train my children in the ways of the Lord while giving them a good education, all for the glory of our great and wonderful God. The road is not easy, specially when you try to do things God's way but the reward is well worth the effort.
To God be the Glory!
