Sep. 29, 2009 - Harvest Season
Today I attempted to make caramel corn. I have done this many times in the past when I get the itching to make something in my kitchen~something buttery, something sweet, something that the children can munch on, and my heart will smile while watching them eat it all up.
But, today my treats did not turn out so well. I am not sure what I was thinking, but the boys are still laughing about the end result of my attempts to please them. I was trying to make the sweet and salty kind of popcorn called kettle corn. In the end I added too much salt and overheated the pan.
Final poll: very burnt, incredibly salty, lots of stuck-to-the-pan kettle corn (smiling, lots of smiling!~) It really is a good laugh.
What a mess to clean up~
The good news in all this?
Tomorrow is a NEW DAY. (That is one of my favorite sayings.) I love the idea of being able to start over.
God is soooooo good to give us one more chance, one more day, one more breath. I try to live my life one day at a time, treasuring and even laughing at those ridiculous moments that make the sweet ones taste even better.
I may try again tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes.
JOYFULLY beginning again,
Shannon
