Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.
Please try to learn our memory verse this week. We will be sharing a new verse every week and hope that you will store them in your hearts and find a special joy in His words.
Intro:It keeps going, and going, and going…. (Marketing credit: Energizer)
Housekeeping: that household mess, it keeps going and going and going. It’s a perpetual chore that we diligently need to keep going on to stay on top it. We all have different ways of keeping ourselves energized.
Assignment: How do you keep energized so you can get it all done? bouncy music? treat it like a workout? Do you use a schedule?, a housekeeping binder system? luck of the draw system?.. or is this an area where you need encouragement? Do you need God’s help to keep order and beauty in your dwelling place? Take this week to tell us how You diligently keep going with your housekeeping chores.
my only answer to this is that the Lord gives me the strength to get things done...although I do have days where I don't do well in this area..one of my favorite things to do is listening to Christian Music while I am cleaning the house-I also have my children assigned certain chores they are supposed to do daily.
Lindsey~Vacuums and Unloads the dishwasher
Courtney~Cleans the downstairs bathroom and catbox, feeds the puppies in the evening.
Whitney~Feeds the puppies in the morning, cleans her room
Zachary~Feeds the older dog morning and night and cleans his room
One of the things that I struggle with is with the sock problem-so i throw them in a bucket (sock bucket)lol..I need to do better in that area putting them together.
I am very blessed to have a husband that also helps me around the house.
Picture ideas: Show us some before and after pictures of a space you’ve been working on /show us your favourite tools / share a youtube of your favourite housekeeping music that keeps you energized.....
Share one of your favorite verses..
Psalm 18:1-3
I Will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation; and my
high tower.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Memory Verse: Psalms 26:2 NIV Test me, O LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind.
Assignment: This week I want you to do something for someone else. Do you have a neighbor that needs you? Do you know an elderly person or single mom that could use you? What about the homeless? Pack even one single sack lunch and give it to someone in need. Do you know someone in blogland that is struggling right now and could use a note from you about how much you care? Pray about this. Let God put on your heart the perfect thing for you to do for another. Now, here is the kicker…I DO NOT want you to post about what you do. Whatever you choose to do is between you and God. Our rewards are in heaven, not here on earth, Mathew 6:1. I want you to post about how doing this “act” made you feel. Was stepping out of your comfort zone in this area as hard as you thought it might be? Could you see the gratefulness in their eyes? Hear it in their voice? Tell it from their typing? Do you think you might make doing things like this a more regular part of your time? If this is an area that you are already active in, tell us how you feel this has impacted your life.
My husband and I have always loved "helping others" It is very rewarding to help people in their time of need. Recently I put together a gift for a friend who was going through a difficult time and got in contact with this gal who was in charge of this ministry called "AngelfoodMinistries" I don't know if any of you have heard of this wonderful Ministry but, it is awesome. Anyway the gal that I was working with was really surprised at how I wanted to help a friend in need and said this is the way that Christ wants us to be~is helping one another out in time of crisis. When you see your friends go through things and when you see how others struggle, it makes you take a deep look at your own situation that you thought was really bad but, then you realize your situation isn't as bad as you see what others struggle with and even if your situation looks bleek God will reward you for all the things that you try and do and how you try and help others-it doesn't matter if it is just a little thing or a big thing..he looks at our hearts and thats what really matters.
A verse I am sharing today is..."My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." Psalm 5:3
Memory Verse: Psalms 55:22 - Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee; He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Intro: Plop, plop, Fizz, fizz; Oh, What a Relief It Is! (Marketing Credit: Alka Seltzer)
Assignment: This would be a good week to tell about your worst struggles with a lifestyle of homeschooling. Tell about something you’ve struggled with and how God’s mercies gave us the strength to get past it. Also, share any curriculum/homeschool methods that have been a relief to you, i.e., a particular Teacher’s Manual or Homeschooling method that’s been easier for your family. Talk about how you felt when the burden was lifted and Oh, What a Relief it is! Well, I have really struggled with trying to make a goal at it with using K12 Virtual Academy, I really didn't want to write about it because at a point I felt like a failure but, as a friend of mine said you are only a failure if you didn't try..I have tried this twice and just figured it is something that just doesn't work for our family. I have used school of tomorrow for years but, thought I would try it again (K12)and it just isn't for us..I have to tell you I have learned that its ok and have learned what works with my kids and what doesn't that has been a struggle for me. I feel very relieved, less stressed and more at Peace.
The verse I continue to stand on at this time is Isaiah 26:3 ~You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You. Because he trusts in You.
We are also adding Music, Typing Lessons and ART and SCIENCE Experiements to our School Work.
Also a new thing we are doing this year is taking Nature Walks.
I don't have a picture at this time but, will add one later.
Assignment: Take time this week to write about YOU and your feelings of trials and triumphs with homeschooling. Touch on when you first heard about the concept of home schooling and whether you tip-toed into the idea or just jumped in and never looked back. Share your schooling as a child and how you compare it to what your goals are for your children.
This week I have thought alot about the trials and the triumphs that I have gone through since the beginning of starting to homeschool my children, my oldest Lindsey who now is 18, was 5 years old when we began, I wasn't to thrilled with my husband because she was in Kindergarten and we were moving to another city and he wanted us to homeschool her (I emphasize on the word US (strongly) LOL
Although I do have to give my husband credit now, he does help teach the children and that is a big blessing to me.
I remember when we first started out-I would say my biggest thing at that time was where do I start-I really wasn't sure about it, I was on my own and had no one around me that I knew of that homeschooled, I don't even think I owned a computer at that time lol.. I wanted her to go to public school but, now I wouldn't change that for anything..even though I struggle more some days, I wouldn't change having my children home for a second, I love every minute I have with them-there have been plenty of struggles, like which Curriculum to use,the constant struggle of getting them motivated and sometimes I had to deal with my older two not getting along alot..but through the Lord, we got through it.
Lindsey and Courtney our older two now attend a Christian School but, I home school our younger two. I have learned alot,I have learned to organize and handle things and what works for us and what doesn't.
As a child in a public school myself it was a struggle everyday, kids being mean to me, I remember when I was in high school how the "Popular" kids would stand on this ramp and be mean to all the other kids, one year I was in a car wreck and I hurt my leg and it was in a cast and on crutches, I remember walking down that ramp and a girl sticking her foot out and trip me, that is what I want my kids to not have to experience, although they will at some point in the world have to deal with people, I don't want them to have something constant everyday as that to deal with.
My goals for my children are to have a safe & Healthy enviroment, a place where it is fun to learn and learn about God's love for each other..and his grace that we can have with one another.
A verse that I was given this summer during a health scare-is Isaiah 26.3 says-Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Here are some Pictures I am sharing :)
