Reflections in the Waves

*sigh*
Good afternoon,
(sorry no new part of Dragon Tamer, don't want to get my flash drive)
I haven't been on here too much lately, the reason for which I shall explain. Firstly, school takes up a lot of my time - though I only have one class a day (4 days a week). I have to wake up at 6 in the morning, then get to the college at 8 because my mom works there, and then I wait for half an hour or more for the professor to arrive, then I have class until 11 o'clock. After which, I go to the building where my mom works (which is all the way on the other end of the campus. arg!) and wait for her to get on her lunch break, we eat lunch together. :) After that, I have to wait for her to get off work (3 on Mondays, 2 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) by sitting in the library or outside and reading. Thursdays is my mom's long work day (to 4), so my friend Tawnia picks me up at 12. I do this for four days a week, so when I come home I don't feel very internety. lol However, my computer has been having problems for the past weeks and last week it finally decided to lose itself completely. It was stuck in a loop of beginning to turn on, then restart... We couldn't get it to load all the way (this computer is 6 years old). My mom has talked to some computer guys and they tell her that it could be the power supply that's making the problem, so she ordered a new one... I'm really hoping it'll work. My dad doesn't want to get me a new computer as we just bought a new one for my sister Heidi (her computer went bonkers), but I need a computer since my friends are all online, I write my stories on the computer, I may need to do things for school on the computer, and many other things. Right now I'm using my sister's computer, but she gets really angry when I use it. If the power supply doesn't work, I'll probably have to pull money from my savings account to get myself my own computer...
On a lighter note, school has been pretty good. I became a "star student" my second week in, even through having to learn PhotoShop and a Mac at the same time (Macs annoy me!! lol). The professor has us working on a lot of projects at once, and I'm not sure if I'm finished with most of them... I think I am. lol One I do know I have finished, it is uploaded on my dA gallery.
You can see it here: http://lotrsavvy.deviantart.com/art/Reflections-of-Jennifer-Harris-97030595
My classes right now are PhotoShop and Graphic Design Principles. A new project we have is to create a self protrait poster, so we did some photoshoots on Wedneday. A lot of fun. One of the guys came in dressed in a 40's or 50's type outfit (white dress shirt, black vest and tie, and a Frank Sinatra style hat), so the one student who was taking the pictures had one girl pose with him, then had me pose with him. haha I'll upload the pics to Facebook once I get them. I have an idea of what to do for my poster and I'll be trying it out tomorrow.
Well, that's mostly what's been going on... besides my parents trading in our van for another small car... now we really can't travel comfortably or bring friends with us anymore. Grr. I have been driving a bit more often and am better... haven't gotten onto the highway, yet, though.
Later,
Jennifer

NO B.O.! [EDITED]
Hello everyone,
I don't understand how one can be Christian and support/vote for Obama to be the President of our country. He is not a true Christian, and there have been many things he's done, said, and what he believes that supports that. What I can't believe is people will follow him no matter what he says, no matter how inexperienced he is, no matter anything. When an Obama-supporter is asked why he/she is voting for him they say, "He'll bring change." Change? What change? He never says what kind, all he says is that he'll bring change...change.. uhh...change, and more change. Here is one thing that should deter any Christian from voting for Obama, it really upset me and I thought I should post about it.
A woman wanted a late term abortion, her baby had down syndrome, so she was induced into labor and the doctors removed the baby. The baby was still alive after the abortion. The baby was going to be put into a soiled linen closet to die there. A nurse then decided to take the baby and she held it for 45 minutes as it struggled to stay alive - it died in her arms. That nurse decided to go to court and Obama was on the side of the woman who had the abortion and he said that the "woman had the right to kill the baby even if it survived the abortion." Because she didn't want it. This really makes me angry and deeply sad, I'm having a hard time finding words to write right now. Now, Obama has said that he would actually vote for a bill to give care to infants alive after an abortion. But a similar bill was passed before him in the past, and he voted against it. He only says these things to calm certain people down, to further his political gains. No one should trust this man, and being Christians, we should not vote for someone who believes in killing babies even if they did survive an abortion (not to mention supporting abortions themselves). I am pro-choice - the baby's choice. It is not the baby's fault the mother got pregnant. A baby shouldn't need to die because of someone else's mistake, or wrong-doing. This brigns me into another subject, but I'll save that for another post.
There are new books written on Obama exposing who he actually is. Many people don't know who he is or what he really stands for. I do not want him to be our president, and I'm desperatly praying that he won't be. McCain isn't the greatest choice for us, but he's much better than Obama. Remember, this country is for "we the people". If we do not like where our government is going, we have the right to change it - though I think many Americans have forgotten that.
Jennifer
[EDIT] I had first heard about this listening to Sean Hannity's show and he did interview the nurse. So, here is the interview on Fox News:

Beginning of Chapter 9
|
Battle Ensues
I watched as Saywyn flew off with her dragon, the elf, and the other dragon Zip. I wished they would be safe going into those mines. I hated seeing Saywyn go without someone she trusted. To go with a strange Elf. I shook my head and glared at Arla.
What right does she have to keep my revenge from me? I thought.
I sighed and walked away from the crowd. I walked up to my tent, and before entering, stared a while at Saywyn’s tent. It was so empty and quiet. I wiped my forehead and stepped into my tent.
“Why in Osaria, did Mungé choose me to lead the Wizards?” I asked myself. “Why couldn’t he do it himself? Me of all people?” I ran my fingers through my hair, as far as they could go. I turned around to see a shadow outside my tent.
Most likely Chadia… I thought rolling my eyes. Why can’t he stop following me around?
“Uh, Raena?” said a voice from the shadow.
I nodded, thoughts confirmed. “Yes, Chadia?” I asked.
“Do you need anything?” he asked. Saywyn might have thought it was funny that he was paying so much attention to me. But I thought it was a annoying. Why would he insult me one day, and then the next, ask me if I needed anything? I twisted a piece of my hair.
“Yes, actually,” I said. “Could you get me a cord, or something, to tie my hair up? I need to keep it tame if I am going to battle.” I waited for a smart remark in return to my request.
“Of course,” Chadia said quickly running away from my tent. I shook my head, surprised. I paced, waiting for Chadia to return. Soon I heard footsteps again and the tent flap opened. Chadia stuck his head in and cleared his throat.
“Will this work?” he asked handing me a long leather cord.
I flashed a smile to him. “Yes, thank you,” I said. I took my unmanageable hair in one hand and the cord in the other. I tied the cord around my hair and tightened it as Chadia watched. I sighed harshly and put a hand on my hip.
“Is there anything I can help you with?” I asked.
He blinked and shook his head. “No,” he said. Then he sighed. “I am worried my people will not come when the fighting starts.” It was hard to think harsh thoughts of him when he looked so full of sorrow. I rolled my eyes and walked out of my tent.
“I am sure they will come, Chadia,” I said, he was following me.
“I hope so,” he said. “And I hope my father’s… and sister’s… deaths can be avenged. I do hope Ruby suffers.” I halted and looked at him.
“As do I,” I said. “As do I.”

Movie, books, tag.... oh! and a new template ^_^
[EDIT] Thank you, soccrchicksta for the 1,000 comment! :D
Good afternoon,
Like my new template? Wateryness. heehee I absolutely love the water, pools, the ocean - even though I'm scared to death of deep water, or water so dark I can't see the bottom... anyway, hope you like the new look. The music I have is supposed to be watery in nature, or blue-sounding. If that makes sense. hehe
On Friday we went to the movies with a friend we've been getting together with a lot this summer, since we don't get to see her all that much. We saw The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. I love the first two Mummy movies (bought them for my sister a couple Christmasses ago. hehe), full of adventure and humor, and just a lot of fun. We were excited about this movie, though not about the fact that the main female character (Evelyn) couldn't be played by Rachel Weisz (she just had a baby and didn't want to bring it to China), and so they had some different actress to play the part. I did not like how this actress played Evy... it just seemed like a different character, I think the writers also changed her character. But besides that, the movie was a lot of fun - the special effects have gotten so much better since the first two. I was really impressed by the CGI. I think it would be fun to do CGI-effects for movies, which is one thing I think I can go into with the degree I'm getting... still not sure what exact job field I want to go into.... My mom had me drive to the theater and from the theater, of course taking the backway, she and I aren't comfortable enough to go on the highway (especially with my sisters in the back seat. grrrrrr). But I'm a bit more comfortable with my driving now, my mom says I still have a death grip on the steering wheel, though... I don't really feel that. haha
I finished the two books my friend lent to me: Lorna Doone and Jane Eyre. Lorna Doone was pretty good, but not one of my favorites. It was a pretty drawn out romance, and didn't make too much of an impression on me, but it was good. Ooooh, but Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë was AWESOME! That book was so great. It was a well written page turner full of passion, pain, sorrow, excitement, and, well, it's great! hehe I absolutely love the style of writing and the romance novels from the 1800's, there's just something about them that's so appealing. Thank you God for great books! If any of you love romances and haven't read Jane Eyre - you should.

End of Chapter 8
| “Who shall accompany Saywyn Dragon Tamer on her quest?” Arla asked the crowd. “We have one; Zip the Dragon, going with her. But we need one more.” I looked around the crowd, wondering who would accept the request. My eyes found the Elf Arsal standing by a Wizard. He looked at me and smiled.
“I will come,” he said softly, but all heard him. He stepped out of the crowd, and with only a few steps, was standing by Arla’s side. “I shall do all that is in my power to help the Dragon Tamer fulfill her quest. Yet, it is her choice.” He looked at me with his piercing green eyes. I felt he had two meanings to the last sentence he had said. I looked at Raena, who looked a bit surprised, then back at the Elf. I nodded slowly.
“I would be honored if you accompanied me,” I said. The Elf bent his head and gave me a small smile. On his back was a long bow and a quiver of arrows, and at his side he wore a long sword. A sudden wind almost knocked me off my feet. Raena grabbed me as the crowd parted and Destiny landed.
“I am glad you are back, Saywyn,” she said. I smiled at her. “I shall fly you to the entrance of the Mines. I only wish I could do more.”
“You are doing enough,” I said. “Besides, we need to here to fight off the Evil dragons.” I patted her nose and she smiled a dragon smile. I looked at Raena.
“I hope I will see you again,” I said. “I just want you to know that you have been like a sister to me. A sister I never had.” I thought I saw tears in Raena’s eyes as she hugged me. She wiped her nose.
“Thank you, Saywyn,” she said. “And I will see you again.” She stepped away as I jumped onto Destiny’s back. Arsal nimbly mounted behind me.
“Watch out Ruby! Here we come!” Destiny roared as she flapped her great wings and lifted into the air. She circled a few times over the crowd. I waved to Arla and the rest, wondering if I’d ever see them again. I turned my gaze over to the great mountains as Destiny flew closer and closer towards them.

Summer Updates
Hello everyone,
Sorry I haven't been doing anything on here. Some days I just don't get on, others I forget about my blog. I've been drawing a whoooole lot, so if you go to my dA gallery there will be a lot of new stuff. I've also been posting my Red Sword Trilogy on there, so you can read something else written by me, as well as Dragon Tamer which is posted here.
We actually went to the beach last Friday. w00t! I haven't been to the beach in like... a year maybe, so that was a lot of fun. We also got to meet up with a friend that we don't get to see very often. She rented a boogie board and let me use it, first time I've ever done that. It was a lot of fun. Some of the waves would bring us all the way up to the shore. haha I got sunburnt though... lol After the beach we went to Barnes and Noble and with my 25 dollar gift card I bought a book of the complete novels of Jane Austen. WAHOO heehee I can't wait to read it.
Yesterday my friend Becky came over to give me and my sisters make-overs. I decided I wanted a gold mermaid look, so she experimented with that. We didn't have much of gold make-up though. But, my sis took pics and it looked really cool. She did Egyptian-esque make-up on Alysia and fairy make-up on heidi. Heidi just recently got the pics off her camera, but I forgot to put them on my flash drive so I'd had them on this computer. I guess I'll do that tomorrow...if I remember. haha Becky lent to me the books Jane Eyre and Lorna Doone, since I hadn't anything to read (until I got the Jane Austen books. hehe). I started reading Lorna Doone last night and it certainly has a different writing style. Does anyone know when that book was written? There's no copyright inside... :(
Starting the middle of next month, I shall be a full time college student. I am in the Graphics Technology program and have been assigned four classes: QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Graphic Design Principles. They should be really interesting classes and I hope the college's book store has Photoshop for a cheap price (I got Microsoft Office for only 20 dollars being in the College Computing class, perhaps they'll do the same for the Photoshop one.... I hope... photoshop is 600 something dollars regularly. =/). By what my schedule says, it looks like I'll be taking the Adobe Photoshop and Graphic Design Principles classes first, then the others will come after - I guess these are short classes. I'll be at the college from 8:30 am to 11 am and the rest of the day to be bored at the college unless one of my friends can pick me up, I hooooope so. Oooooh, and my college IRCC (indian river community college) is now IRSC (indian river state college)... it's gunna take some time to get used to saying "IRSC". hehehe
Well... I should go now so I can see the results show of So You Think You Can Dance. heehee Dancing is awesome. *wishes I could dance* ;P
ttyl!
