In 1997 we took a step of faith and began our homeschooling journey. At that time we said we were just taking it a year at a time. At the end of each school year we would evaluate how the year had gone and commit to another year of homeschooling. The Lord faithfully met us in our homeschool, providing for every need and filling in my gaps as our children's teacher. Whether it was a class on dvd, a co-op class offering advanced science classes or a class at the local community college -- the courses that were needed were available to us.
This past Saturday, Bethany Louise graduated from high school after being homeschooled for 12 years. She was one of 182 graduates who took part in the graduation ceremonies at the NCHE conference. What a privilege to have John Stonestreet give the commencement address. At a time when the main question our graduates are hearing is, "What will you do next year?" He challenged them with the question, "Who will you be?" It is our prayer that Bethany will shine for Christ in whatever she does.
Here are a few pictures from Graduation Day!
David and I presented Bethany with her high school diploma.
She gave me a rose.

Wow, i can't believe how much Bethany looks like you! You've done an amazing job with your schooling! I keep plugging along, taking each year as it comes! Barbie
Thank you for your concern for me. I have just written a blog entry more about the prayers we need and what's going on. If you get a chance today, would you stop by and read it and pray? There is something beginning tomorrow that needs covering.
That brought tears to my eyes. What a proud moment. I sit here terrified that our oldest is starting 7th grade next year. God will come through for us too.
Hi Mrs. Julie! I'm sorry I haven't commented you in such a while! Ahh! It was good to see you at church! I hope your family is well. :-) Sam had a great time at our house, and he went swimming with us, which was fun! Hope to see you soon, and please pray for Julia as she is in Valor, Winscosin. :-) Horsiebabe (Ruby Kate)
I hope you're adjusting okay to her being gone. I KNOW how hard it is.
I was thinking about you the other day. We have had a suicidal cardinal on our side deck. LOL. Bless his heart. I don't know if he is seeing his reflection and thinks it's another male, or what, but he continuously slams into the sliding glass door on my younger girls' bedroom. For hours. For days. We tried closing the curtains, but that didn't help. I didn't hear him all day yesterday, so I don't know if he finally injured himself, or finally gave up.
Hi Mrs. Julie! How are you? I'm great! I'm very sorry I haven't talked with you in such a while! Did Bethany graduate from High school? Clay might have to go to school in August. :-( How is your family? Ours is fine. :-) We all miss Julia soooooooooooooo much!! Will you be at church tomorrow? I hope you will be! See you later. :-) Ruby Kate P.S Write back!
