Before I tell how God has worked in our family recently, I thought I should put a disclaimer on this post. If there are any typos, grammatical errors or sentences not making sense, it is due to my drugged state. I have a bump on my head that is infected. This also means that my glands are infected as well. I am on three types of medication: antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and pain killers. Needless to say, I am in a drug--induced state of mind. So if my sentences do not make sense, I blame it on the drugs.
I have written before about how God blessed us with a speech and language pathologist for our son, Rocky. This was truly a "God thing." I had been fighting for a year to find someone to help us. Miraculously, someone heard about my noise making and stepped up to the plate to offer her services. We have been seeing this person for a few months now. She is an awesome help to us.
We had an appointment with her on Friday. I was telling her about my concerns with Rocky's reading. I told her of my frustration with the school board's reticence in offering help to us. The SLP said that she would talk to the reading specialist that works in her building. I have heard many good things about this reading specialist so I was praying all weekend that the SLP would remember to talk to the specialist.
Monday morning, at 9:00, the phone rang. It was the reading specialist! She called to find out my concerns about Rocky. After I had given her my list of worries, she said that she could definitely help us. We made an appointment for her to come out to the farm next week! It was all I could do to hold back the tears while I was on the phone. I had been so worried because I didn't know how to exactly go about to help Rocky with his reading difficulties. I feel like I have been facing a brick wall for the last nine months as I just didn't know which way to turn. God, in his graciousness, lifted up the wall for me and gave me an answer.
Answered prayer indeed! Our God is an awesome God!
