Again, I am a little behind in recording my books. I will try to catch up this week.
Everyone needs a little fluff in their life. It helps when that fluff is well-written and enjoyable. I have found that in Her Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen. I have never read this author before but I think I will be starting. If this book is any indication, she is a wonderful writer. I loved this book!
This book is set in England in 1932. The main character, Georgie (her name is much too long to write it her,) is a distant relation to the Queen which makes her 34th in line to the throne. Times are hard right now for Georgie so she has to do things that just are not becoming to a royal. These things, though, make her very strong. You can't accuse her of being a simpering rich kid. As a result of trying to be more independent, she finds herself in the middle of a mystery. To be more accurate, she finds a dead man in her bathtub.Georgie attempts to find the killer on her own. This act of bravery results in many attempts on her life.
I have read my share of fluff mysteries over the course of my life, but I usually find them missing something, either it is good writing, intereesting plot, retaining my interest, etc. This book, though, has it all. I will be looking up Bowen books in my library catalogue again this summer.
