How can it be that three weeks of summer have already come and gone?Wow!
The first two weeks were busy with Rachel’s mission work and Sarah’s tennis practices, but this week was actually a bit calm.Sarah still had some tennis, but other than that, we just hung out at home.Camille and I actually did some school work one day this week.Rachel, bless her heart, will now have to work determinedly to finish 5 lessons of Alg 1 in 6 more weeks of summer.I, however, am of the mindset that “she finishes when she finishes”.I’ll do a little more “prompting” next week.
The weather here has been sweltering!I don’t see how the kids and coaches stay on the courts so much in this hear.Yet, they love it.I’ve been spending time with the girls, making time for my parents, reading a few good Christian fiction books, watching Wimbledon, and staying inside as much as possible.Oh, and I’ve been working too.Gotta love these lazy days of summer.
Next week though, I’ll be buckling down some review work with the girls and begin reading over the new curric we’ll be using in August. Our new programs include TruthQuest, Total Language Plus, MUS Geometry, and Notgrass American History.I’d like to have all my planning done (yes, I mean 36 weeks of planning) before Aug 1st because we’ll be vacationing the second week of Aug and starting our school year on Aug 24th.
I can’t believe this, but I think I actually hear rainfall.I know the plants, trees, and grass are singing for joy right about now.

Hey Karen, congrats on being chosen as the "Featured Blogger." Now everyone else can learn what I've known for a long time: you have an excellent blog! Enjoy!
Betty
...on the 36-week plan. I've given up on that since it never works out as I planned, and I wind up making substantial adjustments during the 2nd half of the year. RIght now, I've figured out that about a month out works for us; such is the level of potential disruptions that I need to get more control of.
What Algebra 1 program are you using, and what's your review?
I can relate to the sweltering heat as we live just south of you in Florida. We haven't been getting our usual rain either. Congrats to you on being the homeschool blogger of the week! I know I enjoy your blog and obviously a lot of other people do too. Lord bless you friend!
I had forgotten about Tennis. Just reading about your daughters' enjoying it makes me want to go to the park and play on the courts with my daughters.
I hope the rain makes the temp drop a bit for you.
We really like Truthquest, too. I love all the reading books organized by reading levels and historical subjects. We are using the Acient Egypt one to supplement our studies. I love the commentaries that help understand that time period.
This is my place of rest and reflection on my life and my home school. I am Terry's wife and the proud mother of three daughters (16, 12, and 4). Please make yourself at home as I ramble about our school, our kids, my job, my love of sports, current events... you name it! Oh, and by all means, leave a comment so I can visit your blog as well.
