I Ate Too Much Turkey
by Jack Prelutsky
I ate too much turkey,
I ate too much corn,
I ate too much pudding and pie,
I'm stuffed up with muffins
and much too much stuffin',
I'm probably going to die.
I piled up my plate
and I ate and I ate,
but I wish I had known when to stop,
for I'm so crammed with yams,
sauces, gravies, and jams
that my buttons are starting to pop.
I'm full of tomatoes
and french fried potatoes,
my stomach is swollen and sore,
but there's still some dessert,
so I guess it won't hurt
if I eat just a little bit more.
Thanksgiving Day Parade
By Jack Prelutsky
Thanksgiving Day is here today,
the great parade is under way,
and though it's drizzling quite a bit,
I'm sure that I'll see all of it.
Great balloons are floating by,
cartoon creatures stories high,
Mickey Mouse and Mother Goose,
Snoopy and a mammoth moose.
Humpty Dumpty, Smokey Bear
hover in the autumn air,
through the windy skies they sway,
I hope that they don't blow away.
Here comes Santa, shaking hands
as he waddles by the stands.
It's so much fun, I don't complain
when now it really starts to rain.
The bands are marching, here they come,
pipers pipe and drummers drum,
hear the tubas and the flutes,
see the clowns in silly suits.
It's pouring now, but not on me,
I'm just as dry as I can be,
I watch and watch, but don't get wet,
I'm watching on our TV set.
Thanksgiving Prayer
by Susan D. Anderson
Im thankful for my mother, and
Im thankful for my dad.
Im thankful for my sisters, and
for all the fun weve had.
Im thankful for my brother, Tom,
(even when hes jerky.)
But most of all, Im oh-so-thankful
not to be a turkey.
A Thanksgiving Dinner
Maude M. Grant
Take a turkey, stuff it fat,
Some of this and some of that.
Get some turnips, peel them well.
Cook a big squash in its shell.
Now potatoes, big and white,
Mash till they are soft and light.
Cranberries, so tart and sweet,
With the turkey we must eat.
Pickles-yes-and then, oh my!
For a dessert a pumpkin pie,
Golden brown and spicy sweet.
What a fine Thanksgiving treat!
Mr. Turkey
(to the tune of Yankee Doodle)
Mr. Turkey, better watch out.
Thanksgiving Day is coming.
If you're not careful, you'll end up
In someone's hungry tummy!
Mr. Turkey, run, run, run.
Please run away and hide.
Mr. Turkey, run, run, run.
Don't wait around outside.
Oh, What a Feast!
Deborah P. Cerbus
Turkey and gravy
Corn on my plate.
Oh, what a feast for me.
Cranberries and stuffing
I can't wait.
Oh, what a feast for me.
Bread and potatoes
Dessert is great.
Oh, what a feast for me.
I love Thanksgiving
Fill up my plate.
Oh, what a feast for me!
The Turkey Shot out of the Oven
Jack Prelutsky
The turkey shot out of the oven
and rocketed into the air,
it knocked every plate off the table
and partly demolished a chair.
It ricocheted into a corner
and burst with deafening boom,
then splattered all over the kitchen,
completely obscuring the room.
It stuck to the walls and the windows,
it totally coated the floor,
there was turkey attached to the ceiling,
where there'd never been turkey before.
It blanketed every appliance,
it smeared every saucer and bowl,
there wasn't a way I could stop it,
that turkey was out of control.
I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure,
and thought with chagrin as I mopped,
that I'd never again stuff a turkey
with popcorn that hadn't been popped.

My apologies to my young readers for not having posted in a few days!
Something that my girls learned how to do just last year and really love is Finger Knitting! While it would be a little hard for me to explain, you can go here for some pictures and instructions on the technique. It's really quite simple once you get the hang of it!
My girls made several Christmas presents last year for friends and family that they all really enjoyed! Hope you will as well!
Here's a fun craft, a Cereal Box Tote! My girls and I made these together just this week and they have already come in very handy for holding ther spiral notebooks, pen, paper, markers and other items that they seem to want to carry with them every where we go!
I hope you have a FUN and FABULOUS FALL weekend! I'll see you again on Monday!

Well, my girls and I back from Autumn break! We had a wonderful time and after a day spent visiting our much missed daddy and husband, we are ready to get back into our routine!
I want to direct you a fun site that my girls enjoy, Kiddo Net. We visited this site shortly before we left to go on our trip, and the girls printed off some mini-cards that they then wrote little love notes in and left scattered throughout the house for their dad to find while we were gone! He really enjoyed them! They also enjoyed dressing the C-Dolls. There are a lot of things that you do at this site, even design and print your own birthday party invitations and calling cards! Maybe a good place to visit now that the weather is turning colder and getting outside becomes more of a challenge!
It's good to be back . . . . THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!

Fall Leaf Collage
Fall is a great time for kids to do fall crafts. Leaf collages
are easy to make and can provide hours of fall fun. Kids enjoy
looking for the leaves as well as using the leaves to create
their creative collages.
Here's what you need for this fun fall craft project:
Fall leaves
Ornamental grasses
Flower petals
Waxed paper
Old crayons
Old cheese grater
Newspaper
Iron
This project can be done on two different days. One afternoon
can be spent outside looking for different colored leaves, pretty
ornamental grasses, and interesting flower petals. After the
kids have a good collection, have them lay everything out on
some newspapers to dry.
On a rainy day when there's nothing else to do or maybe on
Thanksgiving Day while you're waiting for dinner to be ready,
bring out the dried leaves and grasses to create the leaf
collage.
Start by choosing the size of the collage. Tear off two pieces
of waxed paper to the desired size. You will be pressing the
leaves between the sheets of waxed paper.
You will be using crayon shavings to get the sheets of waxed
paper to stick together. This also adds some color to the
collages. Choose some old crayons in a variety of fall colors
and use the old cheese grater to get some shavings from the
crayons.
Working on a piece of newspaper, lay one sheet of waxed paper
down and arrange the leaves, grasses, and flowers as desired.
Sprinkle crayon shavings all over the sheet of waxed paper, so
that when you iron the sheets together, they will completely
stick together.
Next use the iron to press the two sheets of waxed paper
together. Unless you're using an old iron, you should use a thin
cloth between the waxed paper and the iron, or you might get
crayon shavings on your iron, which will transfer onto the next
thing you iron...believe me, I know!
That's it! These leaf collages look great hanging in a window as
a pretty fall decoration. You could also hang them on the
refrigerator, frame them, or even use them as placemats.

Here's a poem I memorized when I was Kindergarten and have never forgotten. I still use it more than thirty years later to help me remember how many days are in a month!
30 Days Hath September
Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November.
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone.
Which hath but twenty-eight, in fine,
'Til Leap Year gives it twenty-nine.

Welcome girls, welcome!
You're in for a special treat.
This site will be filled with wonderful things,
To read, to do, to eat!
So come meet Little Women
and a girl named Heidi too.
Ponder life with Margaret,
You'll find she's a lot like you.
Travel with Alice to Wonderland
And visit Sunnybrook Farm.
Get lost in the Secret Garden -
It's filled with mystery and charm.
Take a ride with Velvet
And snoop with Harriet the Spy.
Laugh along with Pippi,
Her pigtails flying high!
Tell a joke, riddle or tale,
Eat a chewy Cinnamon Snail.
Play a card game like Go Fish,
Bake a cake or make a wish.
Braid, weave, rhyme and sing,
Fashion a three way decoder ring.
Write a note with invisible ink,
Brew a very special drink!
Recite a poem, it's fun, c'mon!
Learn to sew just like your mom.
Discover women who paved the way.
Dream of who you'll become one day.
Welcome girls, welcome!
You are special, it's true!
That's why I've decided
To make a site just for you!
