So Sorry

Well, it's been awhile since I did any real entries, aside from posting a few things from TOS. So it's time I popped in here and did something.

Summer has been breezing right a long for us here. A few summer reading programs...One in a nearby town that we've been to, is really cool. They have the kids all read out loud, as well, as other activities. The one here in town is okay. It only ran for the month of June, once a week. It was centered around learning about bugs, which was okay I suppose. My girls seemed to be hot and cold about the program, one week they would have a great time, the next time, wouldn't want to go back.

In anycase, school is progressing for us as well. Ahh, yes, we are year round homeschoolers, because in my mind, learning never stops, even for summer breaks. *LOL* We are not working hard, or fast...a nice leisurely pace. Devoting quite a bit of time to reading, as both girls enjoy that, and are striving to become better readers. There has also been plenty of walks, and time to spend at the park. Family time doing puzzles, and lets not forget the dreaded chores. They are finding that it isn't so horrible to have to fold laundry, if we count how many pieces of laundry each folds, or match them by colors (although mine are a bit old for color recognition), there are ways to make chores a little less horible, all the while training them for later in life.

I was one that went out on her own, without a clue how to do my own laundry, or how to cook most things (my love was baking, so I didn't pay much attention to cooking meals)....Took me awhile to figure out that houses didn't clean themselves...*LOL* I am striving to teach my children better, so that they will be prepared for life on their own, not that I'm rushing that time...I can't imagine life without my girls.

It is great to "meet" you. I am new to KS and looking for other Christian Home Educating families. My name is Jeanette, my husband and nine children just moved to Topeka. Are you near us at all? We are going to be visiting the capital tomorrow. Have a wonderful week as you abide in Him! Mrs. Joseph Wood
