Thirteen Favorite Educational Games

Here are 13 educational games we like to play.  Most of these we own.  Scrabble I lost somewhere during my many moves.  I do not own Balderdash but it might make a nice Christmas present.  What is your favorite?

There is a Star Wars Monopoly? I kind of need it! My family has huge Star Wars Trivial Pursuit competitions.

I'm a Scrabble Girl myself.

I never cared for Monopoly. Even when I'm winning, I feel bad for the people losing. I don't think it teaches anyone anything except extremes in winning and losing.

Star Wars Monopoly is a lot like regular Monopoly with only a couple of minor variations - like what you can do when you roll doubles. Educational? Sure! Learning to count money, give change, figure percentage on mortgages, strategy - when to buy and not to buy properties, budgeting.

Oooh, lots of good games there, some really fun ones. Of those, my favorite is dominoes (I love the Mexican train version), followed closely by Scattergories and Scrabble. :)

Great T13! Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by mine earlier :)

We love board games too, we actually own four different Monopoly games and two Twister games! Our newest game is "Name that State" very good for homeschooling and geography.

We just got Quiddler, but I don't think my family liked it very well. Maybe because we were still figuring it out. I tend to love word games, but I am the only female in the house. :) I love the computer version of Boggle.

My guys love Settlers of Cataan and some of its spinoffs. They all enjoy chess, too.

We enjoy Dutch Blitz sometimes.

We LOVE board games over here! GREAT list Karen. We love playing Apples 2 Apples w/ the kids. I once played Risk (LOTR version) against my husband one lazy winter Saturday afternoon. I think it took us 10 hours to finally finish- it was intense. : )

I really like your new harvest look, too!!! Very fall-festive & oh-so-pretty!! : )

I LOVE to play games. Balderdash is one of my favorites. My problem is finding people to play it with. And there is Bible Balderdash...even better. I haven't heard of some of these games.

I can't wait until Cmaeron is a little older and we can play all sorts of games. Right now we are making due with Chutes and Ladders (counting), Uno, Dominos, Old Maid, Go Fish and Concentration.

Games! now you're speaking my language. Surprisingly I have not play a couple on your list. I will have to find them. And if I may add a couple, Mille Borne and Pit, both card games invovling math.

Thanks for visiting my Thursday Thirteen #15 "Repeat Real Me Edition". I have posted the answers!

Some of them are too old for mine, but I'm looking forward to getting them when in a couple of years. Of course, most aren't available here. Does Amazon ship to Romania? It doesn't ship to Barbados.

My husband John and I have been married for 22 years as of April 2009. We have 3 children- two teens and a 10 year old and have been homeschooling for most of their lives. After John left the State Police in 1992, we spent 10 years as missionaries to Romania. We returned from the field in March of 2007. John was rehired by the State Police in 2008 and the whole family is very involved in ministering in a new church plant.
