A Blessed Christmas
On Christmas morning the sun seemed reluctant to wake up, hiding behind a thick cover of clouds. I woke up later than usual and was sure that the children were anxious to open their presents. I peeked into the girls’ room and they, like the sun, were snug under their blankets. As I meandered toward the kitchen, I found that Gabriel had gotten up, but in his solitude decided to go back to sleep on my dad’s recliner. I did the unusual that morning. Christmas is one of the rare days of the year that I actually cook breakfast, that is, if you count Pillsbury cinnamon rolls as cooking. The children soon woke up, opened their stocking gifts and we enjoyed the delectable rolls.
Being at home with my parents’ this year was a treasure. We had a relaxed morning; just the seven of us and our plan was to get together with my brothers and their families today. Their plan was to spend Christmas with their in-laws in another state but for one reason or another, that did not work out. My younger brother called while we were opening gifts and told us they were home so we invited them over to share our Christmas dinner of ham, sweet potato casserole, green beans, mashed potatoes and rolls. My mom also made a Cherry Torte. My older brother already had dinner planned but they came over later. Even my niece and her husband and daughter were here from North Carolina. They held their gift to my parents for last. It was a picture frame with a picture of their sweet little girl and sonogram picture announcing to all of us that another one is on the way!
The long awaited holiday is over and soon the year will be too. I hope your day was as merry and blessed as ours was.

It sounds like you had a wonderful, family-filled Christmas. I loved reading about the cookie decorating and last minute plans bringing more family together. And, what a neat idea to frame the sonogram!
A blessed New Year to your family!

I viewed all the ornaments, how lovely. I especially liked the ones from Amsterdam. Too bad we weren't neighbors because we have loads of traditional cookie cutters here. Blessings.

Your day sounds wonderfully relaxing. Mine didn't out to be quite the way I had planned in my mind. All the in-laws came for Christmas dinner, and cooking for that number on such a special occasion was a little overwhelming. But, God is gracious, isn't He? So despite my misgivings the day turned out well and all enjoyed the meal and their time together.
The year is fast closing. I always feel sad to see another one end. Don't know why?
Blessings to you all. How wonderful that you were able to be home for Christmas!

What a neat way to tell everybody there would be a new family member next Christmas!
I hope you're feeling better. I've had a cold for going on 3 weeks now - it has taken the chest route and now is settled in my head - my nose is a mess! We moved south - and I thought would maybe avoid some of this! YUCK!
