To quote my youngest daughter during her preschool days, “My headache hurts.” For the last two days, I’ve had a sinus headache. It is finally better now and life goes on with or without it. Yesterday we were able to accomplish a decent amount of school. Thankfully, Gabe and Hannah have been enjoying science. Today we did math and about 15 minutes of reading aloud. Gabe had an orthodontist appointment to get the brackets for his herbst appliance. This was triple torture for him. She had to put the brackets on to see if they fit. His bottom teeth were really tight. Then she took it off so that she could glue it in place. His bottom teeth were still so tight, even though he’s been wearing spacers for a few weeks now. So instead of putting the bottom brackets on, she put more spacers in, bigger spacers. Do you know how uncomfortable it is when you have a piece of popcorn between your teeth? Well, he has 8 spacers pushing his teeth apart. Gabe did not want to go through this second phase because he already knew the agony of the ordeal. Some day he may thank me for the straight teeth he will have. Even though my heart was experiencing emotional pain that was near the same level of his physical pain, I didn’t use the old line of “Son, this is going to hurt me more than it will you.” I am sure he would have gladly traded spots with me. I was really hoping to go to a Mom to Mom meeting with Cindy Rushton tonight. She lives about an hour away from me and is the one who introduced me to Homeschoolblogger. I have yet to meet her and I’m hoping that we can get together soon. But there are days when there is nothing better than knowing your mom is home to comfort you, even when you are 14 years old.
