Bless the Lord
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Any
day of the year when I find myself discouraged, I go to the
Psalms. There I always find comfort from God’s word to sooth my
troubled soul. Recently I discovered a wonderful book entitled Bless the Lord. The words are those penned by David when he wrote the 103rd
Psalm. The illustrations are by Johannah Bluedorn.
Johannah, a homeschool graduate, has a spectacular talent using
beautiful colors and intricate details. On each page I find
children, animals and people from days gone by. The art work is
enchanting and I find it as soothing to my eyes as the words are to my
soul.
Bless the Lord is a great addition to anyone’s library. I read this book to my younger daughter and she pleaded for me to read it again. Meanwhile, my older daughter couldn’t wait to peruse the pages herself. The book could easily be used for family devotions. I
love the way Johannah has illustrated verse 12 with a little boy
sitting on the beach, giving the sense that he is contemplating the
vastness of the ocean and the greatness of our God. It
could also be used as an encouragement for children to practice their
own drawings. Johannah has written and illustrated several books and I
hope there will be many more to come.

Oh, those pictures on the cover *ARE* gorgeous! I will have to remember the book. It won't be hard, I am a fan of the Bluedorns. I taught a class in beginner's logic last year and we used the book "The Fallacy Detective" it is very well written.
Have a great night!

Hi,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. This looks like a great book. I'd love to hear more about your life in Romania. My husband and I were headed to the Mission field before he got cancer. We still hope to go someday but don't know when or where! So we will try to live as lights wherever we are.
Blessings to you,
Rebeca

I love the Psalms. Always a source of comfort. My 12yod also loves the Psalms so much that when it is her turn to pick our daily reading, she always goes there.
I am going to pick up a copy of Bless the Lord by Johannah Bluedorn. It looks wonderful!
So it must be hard living so far away. How long have you been there? I have not had the chance yet to go through all of your posts.
Well, have a good evening, or day, whichever it is now in Romania.

Loved your blog. Our church currently supports a church/seminary training center in Romania and has sent elders there each year for the past couple of years. Thanks for visiting my blog.

The book looks and sounds great. I'll have to add it to my wish list.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Where in Alabama were you from? I have never lived anywhere other than Alabama, but with my SIL being in the army, I get to see the world thru his eyes. (I also get to visit).

Okay......I already have you on a pedestal.........you design a wonderfully beautiful webpage/blog AND you are a missionary AND you live in Romania! WOW!! Maybe if I lived in Romania, you would be my mentor friend to teach me how to get all of this done! : )
Really, your blog is beautiful and one day (it's on the wish list) I want to learn how to design a webpage.
I think that I have found what the difference is.........lack of sleep! I don't do well at all without seven hours of sleep and people get things done long after I am in bed! I am headed to bed around 9:00 each night and have fallen asleep most nights by 10:15 (after the weather, if I am lucky). I am a morning person, rising at 5:00am. I get most of my time with the Lord then before my kids get up. When I don't follow this schedule, I am a bear to live with and my family pays, especially the kids. Isn't that sad?
Anyway, thanks for leaving a comment. I hope to get to know you and what your life is like as a missionary in Romania. It sounds so interesting! Keep blogging! I will keep reading. I especially want to find the book you talked about: BLESS THE LORD.
Blessings,
Becky

Thanks for reading my blog and leaving an encouraging word. I am absolutely loving meeting fellow homeschoolers from all over the world.
Thanks also for the wonderful book recommendation. I have a brand new niece, named of all things, Lucy Johannah. Since she's baby girl number four for my sister-in-law, she doesn't really need clothes or other traditional baby gifts. I think this book may be a lovely gift.
