Brave Hearts and Gladiators
|
This last week I have watched two epic movies; Braveheart and Gladiator. Glad. for the first time and B.H for the second. You might ask how I get along in this life after watching two such movies in one week. Simple, I scrunch up my eyes at the nasty parts and think of happy things. Works wonders for the brain.
If any of you read a lot you might have heard of the author Diana Wynn Jones. Well, she wrote a book "Howl's Moving Castle" that a big shot-really good-Anime creater-from Japan-guy made into an Anime movie. (For those of you confused by the term "anime" it is Japenese Animation) The story is a little odd, a little different, but that's what makes this such a good movie! I'm not going to tell you anything else about it because it's a bit hard to describe. Trust me though, it is worth watching! Christian Bale and Billy Crystal are the voices of key characters and so is Emily Mortimer who is probably best known to you as Amy in The Kid (with Bruce Willis).
That said I took a break to chomp down some more on a free In n' out hamburger that I got for voting for student leaders at my school. One of the best burgers! Yum! I also got some free potato chips that I don't know what to do with since I don't like chips . . . but they were FREE!!!!
I went to the beach this weekend with some friends . . . it's really nice of the beach to be so close to college that we don't have to drive far. It's really great that spring is already starting in So Cal (it was in the 80's on Sat) but I kind of missed the winter that never really came. I miss the tulle fog that comes up from the river back home. Nothing like that here except for smog- and I'm not counting that.
I guess I've rambled on long enough to call this a post. I must get to work on work that never ends - homework. It just keeps coming . . . I've noticed that "just" is one of my favorite words to use . . .

I took grandma to you'r blog (for she wanted to show mama your pictures and her comment). For some odd reason, that she nor anyone else cand figure out, her comment magically went to a later post that she doesn't remember reading. I have NO idea what happened and she is obviously upset - I told her you probably wouldn't get her comment because it wasn't on your recent post. Grandma then thought that you had to scroll all the way down to the very last comment on a post and then begin a comment. She concluded that she did not want to comment if it took all that work, (scrolling, she meant). I also had to explain to her that each post has it's own comments because you are COMMENTING ON THE POST. Finally, grandma didn't understand why you can't erase all your comments so that other people can have room to write? This whole scene would have been hilarious if I wasn't soooooo, and I mean soooooo, sick. Like, not go to TRACK PRACTICE for two days sick. I think it's a Fever. As in Larry Fever. By the way grandma comment is on the, I think it was Jan. 14 post? Have a lovely afternoon! It is after 12:00 pm. by the way. Love, Krista

Feb. 18, 2008 - Hello Kathryn

Your mom was very proud of herself for getting to your blog. But I still don't think it'll get her online much. She's so busy biking, hiking, and making everyone go with her.
We're going up the canyon this afternoon. Stoppe butchered a wild pig that actually jumped in the pig pen 2 months ago, and he fed it along with his own piggies. So its a roasting today, and we're going up to play and eat. Cameron had the jr high boys up for his birthday and they did in the pig as their entertainment...boys are weird, yes? Do you get an Easter break?

Feb. 22, 2008 - You are to happy to be disturbed...

I mean that in the best possible sense. Do you ever find yourself floating off the ground while thinking the happy thoughts, or do the negative situations counteract any affect of they happy thoughts, and you remain firmly upon the ground? Either way, your effervescence is I am sure quite intact.
Did you read the book, or only watch the movie? One of the many reasons I miss seeing you is that I miss out on so many book recommendations. I am sure the people on campus love you; but meanwhile I am stuck reading Michael Crichton in between my Henry Fielding!!!!
Sorry you missed winter, it was in full force up here today. Even snowed for a bit.Yup, Got to love a state where it can be 80 degrees in one place, and snowing in another...
Have fun with your homework. Keep your chin up, this too shall pass...
Later,
BFH

Just you wait, college will be over in just a second, and then it will be just a memory. Let's call this poetic justice, or not.
I hope and pray that all is well. You are missed.

Actually, it's not afternoon yet where you live, but it will be in two hours or so! ;-)
Lol, no, I've lived in Pennsylvania, MA, NY, and CT. ;-) But I've lived in CT ever since I was four, and my parents were originally from here. :-)
Yeah, I know! I think that CT is the best place in the world, but that's because I live here! :-P ;-)
Have a great day!

Since you demand, I will write you a story. It will be kinda hard since James is talking in my ear about toast and fried eggs he thinks I am going to make him for breakfast. Keep dreaming brother...
Once upon a time, a fluffy pink cat (or Kat) went away to feline finishing school. She left her friends and family at home so that she could become finished, or at least get a little perspective ("Can you suggest a good wine to go with perspective?"). While she was gone she picked up some bad habits like doing too much homework and even got involved in anime and skinny jeans... (your jeans aren't skinny jeans because skinny jeans taper. yours are bootcut.) Meanwhile, the cat's friend back home (who will remain unnamed) was growing up rather quickly. She was beginning to become what she'd looked forward to and looked up to and she wondered if Kat even knew. Kat's friend needs to get over the fear of phones (cats don't like phones any more than mummy's like cats) and general fear of talking ("is that my voice!? oh well." -Yzma). Then unnamed friend could tell Kat of all the craziness. But unnamed friend hates to sound crazy... she should never try to write a story. But fortunately, friend knows that no one appreciates crazy randomness like Kat. And the moral of the story is: stop commenting before it's too late to call Kat on the phone. That and "Don't be so crazy" Nacho? Krista? Who says that?
The End...
~Jessica~
P.S. I had to google The Emperors New Groove to find out how to spell Yzma.
P.S.S. I just looked at the clock and it's already too late to call. I'll have to do it tomorrow or something which is probably better since I won't be so crazy in the daytime.
