Homebound Missions

• Feb. 23, 2009 - Craig's List Highlights

A few days ago, I posted about an idea I had after using Craig's list, to check out their free listings for items that our many ministries in Haiti could use.  This has turned out to be hugely successful, and I have found that the people donating from Craig's List are very enthusiastic about doing so.

Yesterday, I decided to add to Craig's list a Wanted Post.  I mentioned Homebound Missions, and then gave a brief list of who we collect donations for, and what kind of items we are looking for.  I received several e-mails during the evening offering free toys, formula, and other items.  I also received e-mails telling me other places I can get free items.

If you have a ministry that you are trying to collect donations for I highly recommend that you consider Craig's List.  You may want to post an ad for items in the Wanted or Free section, or you can casually just check out the free section everyday and request those items that you see posted.

I never imagined that this would be such a successful resource, and I hope you are able to get the same results that I have.

TIP:  Make sure you write a breif Thank you note and leave it with the person who donates to you.  This is a small jesture that may just lead to many more donations.  People these days don't often feel appreciated, and this may bless them in a very significant way.
