• Aug. 6, 2009 - Marathon for Medika Mamba

I am blogging today to ask you to participate in a very exciting challenge to help starving children in Haiti.

Several months ago a friend of ours, Tara Livesay deicided to enter the Twin Cities Marathon which will take place October 4, 2009 in MN.  Soon after she would visit a clinic at Real Hope for Haiti and meet a little 3 1/2 year old boy named Renald weighing a mere 13 pounds, it was then she decided to use her marathon run as a way to raise money to help children like Renald.

The clinic run by Real Hope for Haiti and it's partner organization, World Wide Village sees and treats straving children like Renald everyday.  You have not seen despair like that of a child hours away from death because they have not been given food.

But there is great hope for these children and it is called Medika Mamba.  In Haitian Creole, Medika Mamba means peanut butter medicine and it can bring a starving child from the brink of death to health in a very short time.  See what I am talking about here.

This is where we come in.  Tara has already exceded her goal, a goal that she never imagined possible.  As of this writing she has 202 contributors and a total of $21,495.44 raised.  I want to blow this one right out of the water.  I want Tara to have a total of at least 300 contributors and we have the time to do it.

Would you please consider making a donation, but also commit to praying for Tara and her family.  Also, watch her blog and see this great blessing just pour out on the children of Haiti and those who care so deeply for them.  Get to know the Livesay family.

Your donation can be made directly from Tara's blog and if you wish you can even snail mail it.

Tyler and I are so excited about this and  we enjoy watching every new contribution coming in.  Join us in this adventure of the Lord's hands and feet at work.  Thank you.  GO TARA!
