Weariness of soul. We have all felt it. Late nights tending sick children, grief over the death or illness of a loved one, trials, struggling to have victory over a certain sin. How do we keep going in the midst of soul-weariness? Where do we find the strength?
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." Matthew 11:28-29
"Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Who passing though the valley of Baca (meaning Tears) make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. They go from strenth to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God." Psalm 84:5-7
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust." Psalm 91:1-2
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God." Psalm 42:11
"And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea,...and thou shalt take thy rest in safety." Job 11:18
The Lord tells us in His Word to look to Him for strength and rest. When we trust Him to be our strength and bring us rest, He blesses us and carries us through the difficulties and trials, giving us the rest we so desperately need. May your soul find rest in Him today.
