Welcome to my blog on topics about keeping the home - or attempting to - as a Gen X Mom of four and wife to one. :) This blog is written by me, Lori Seaborg, from the Florida-Alabama Gulf Coast. I'm not the person who is ahead of you in mothering and homemaking knowledge. I'm just the gal right beside you, motivating the 11yo daydreamer, keeping up with the 9yo future homemaker extraordinaire (every mama needs a helper like this one!), teaching the rascally 6-year-old while occupying the 3yo. Let's learn together!
Well, here's an interesting thing that I stumbled upon this morning: Amazon.com is now in the grocery business! You can order your groceries right alongside books, CDs and electronic gadgets.
I haven't gotten a good look at what they have to offer yet, but thought I'd share the link with you anyway. Click on the Amazon.com Grocery link to the left, under Categories.
I suppose if you want convenience and not thriftiness then Amazon might be the way to go. The problem is, you still have to go to the store for milk, eggs and veggies so you are not saving any gas, you're still tripping over children and you haven't saved much time. Personally, I doubt I'd buy groceries from Amazon unless they would ship them to Romania. I tried, they don't. : (
Anyway, thanks for bringing it to our attention. There's probably someone out there that will love it.
Yeah, I suppose they don't ship to Romania, lol! I think I'll put in an order for some organic coffee and trail mix along with my nature journaling books I'm ordering this week. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Here in Alabama, we pay for sales tax on groceries (I usually hop the border to my home state, Florida, just to avoid that) and it's a high tax, too, at 8.5%. Plus, the local WalMart (the only inexpensive grocery store here) is 16 miles away, so I think we could save a good bit on gas and taxes if Amazon.com or any other online store can meet our needs.
We already raise our own meat and eggs, and bread and grains we buy in bulk (we freeze the bread). Veggies and fruits we buy from our local farmer's market to help out the farmers. The only thing we'd need is milk, but hubby can pick that up from a convenience store right on the way from work.
I'm definitely game for it, if I can get everything online!

I must admit I didn't believe you! LOL! It seemed ridiculous! But there it is! WOW! And those prices! YIKES! Amazon is great for books and DVDs and such, but NOT for groceries.
