Homeschool Mom and Aunt

• Aug. 18, 2007 - Summer

Can anyone believe summer is nearly gone?  My list of things to accomplish this summer hasn't hardly been touched, yet I'm running out of time.  Our official school year starts again on Tuesday.  I can't believe it.  I'm ready to get back into a routine.  We have somewhat of a routine during the summer, but it's just not the same.  Besides, fall is one of my favorite times of the year.  God is so gracious to paint the leaves those gorgeous oranges, reds and yellows.  In our neck of the woods we have 4 distinct seasons (which I love!)

I've been praying about how to de-stress my homeschool.  I've received some excellent articles via e-newsletters.  God must be speaking to me?!?  I'm trying to incorporate a new idea every week.  I found that trying more than that just frustrated all of us.  I want this year to be different.  I feel God has a different plan for us.  One that includes discovery and wonder and LESS STRESS!  I would love any ideas anyone has for balancing school, work (I'm a CPA who works from home) and life in general.

Our God is awesome!  May he richly bless each and everyone who reads this today!

I just found you from my "friends" list, and came over to meet you! I know you can find lots of great ideas from some of us more relaxed type homeschoolers (many who work from home too) and hope you will pop back over to my blog and read some of my archives. I also post on the HSB front porch on Wednesdays although I have a wonderful guest blogger for a few weeks right now. Go see her blog too, she is a wonderful gal from Australia and has a great website about her "Lifestyle Homeschooling."
A good book to read would be the Relaxed Homeschool or the Joyful Homeschooler, both by Mary Hood.

You can successfully homeschool your children in a very natural way without the kind of stress you might have if you attempted to teach by an unnatural way, for example, using the institutional model. Life is a wonderful teacher and every day life has many more important lessons than you can find in a textbook.

Have a wonderful day and hope to get to know you better!
Blessings,
Nancy
