Aug. 18, 2008 - Ever the drama queen - or is it princess?

LOL Crying
I just got a reminder call from the dentist that the 3 big kids have appts tomorrow.  Emma 'fainted' on the couch and said, "Why me?!  They're calling to move the appt up to today."  Abby replied, "No, they're not, Emma.  They are calling to remind us we have an appt tomorrow."  Emma emphatically says, "We KNOW."   LOL  They have been having a countdown.  Dreading it all the while.  So, since she got such a laugh out of that little dramatic scene, Emma decided to walk around the house saying, "Why me?" in a funny voice.  Next thing I know, Caleb is trailing her saying, "Emma, stop saying that.  You sound like an old man!"   LOL Crying  Oh my sides!!

Aug. 14, 2008 - My baby boy is growing up. . .

Tonight, Caleb informed me that he doesn't want to play with bathtub toys anymore.  I was amazed, and told him my baby boy was growing up too fast!  He replied, "Not TOO fast.  Only for 40 days!!"  Laughing all the while.  I asked, "Only for 40 days, huh?"  "Yep!"  still giggling..."Then it'll be my wedding."  Can you tell who has two big sisters, and has not yet developed a concept of time?!

Aug. 13, 2008 - Emma's learning to read...

The three little kids and I have bad colds.  Since we are staying home tonight, I told the kids we could watch something.  Emma said, "Hey, there's a Bob the Builder movie on tonight!"  I was surprised, but agreed.  She checked the schedule and just turned it on, rallying the other two toward the tv.  Then all of a sudden, frustrated Emma comes in to me, "Mom!  I just found out that doesn't spell Bob the Builder."   LOL  "What does it spell, Emma?"

"I don't know."

"Well, go spell it to me and I'll tell you."

"Bob the b-u-t-l-e-r."   LOL Crying Giggle 4

Aug. 2, 2008 - Out of the mouths of babes...

Emma was reading in the living room, while I was tending to the boys nearby.  She pipes up out of nowhere, "I can't wait until Jesus comes back."   Love  Then Caleb says, "Yeah, me too.  I can't wait to see how big Jesus is."  I am blessed, blessed.

Jul. 27, 2008 - Overheard in our home this week...

Noah's 1st sentence:  "I down."  He also learned to say, "croc" for his adorable shoes.  What he says most of all is "ME".

Caleb, when discussing gray hair with his sisters, said, "Some young people have gray hair - like Grandma!"

Just for fun, I asked Noah what he wanted to be when he grew up.  His answer?  "Me."

Jul. 24, 2008 - So, I asked the kids what they want to be when they grow up...

Noah - 17 mos - He isn't really able to comprehend that idea yet.  Giggle 4

Caleb - 4 yo -a fireman, no, a police guard and a super hero and a super spy.  I wanna be all the things in the whole wide world when I grow up.  (That's my boy!)   Yes

Emma - 7 yo - A person that helps people.  Like when people are at the orphanage and they're being treated very badly and I help them and when people are on the street, I give them blankets and food.  And, when people are very poor, I give them my money.   Crying Love

Abby - 11 yo - *Sigh.*  (Because this has been a topic of conversation lately, and she's a bit stumped. BTW) A software designer/fashion designer/interior decorator.

Jul. 17, 2008 - Praying for meals....

Emma and Caleb often take the role of praying for our meals.  This is one they made up together:

God is good, God is great

Thank you for what's on our plate!

Emma came up with this one for when we accidentally forget to pray before someone begins eating:

God is good, God is great

Thank you for the food we ate!

Jul. 16, 2008 - Caleb keeps me laughing...

He just got out of the bathtub.  When the water all drained, he called to me, "Mommy!  I'm soaking wet and soaking cold!"

Last night, we ate dinner with a friend we hadn't seen since he was probably 2yo.  In the middle of dinner, Caleb pipes up, "That's Noah in the highchair, not me."

Jun. 10, 2008 - Caleb at T-ball...

Caleb is attending a t-ball clinic to learn the basics of the game...  It is designed for 4-6 year olds.  Caleb was hysterical!    Check out these pictures - Uncles, check out that form!

Notice the hat position progression...

I wish I could show you how he did the stretches before the clinic began.  The arm circles they asked the kids to do were accompanied by jumping up and down.  He is quite the clown and enjoying every minute of clinic.  A smile on his face the whole time.  Daddy came after work, and Caleb noticed and left what he was doing to run over and greet him.  It was all just too adorable!

And while Caleb practiced, little brother had his first exposure to sitting in the grass.  He wasn't convinced that was such a good idea.

Jun. 10, 2008 - A Caleb-ism...

Last night, after brushing his teeth, Caleb came to see me.  He was very seriously disturbed by his teeth brushing experience.  This is what he said, "Mommy, I can't reach my guts."

Jun. 5, 2008 - Our little guy....

Noah loves to get into my pots and pans cupboard to play.  I finally got a good picture of that.  And...

Noah had his first day in a forward facing carseat yesterday.  See the sheer joy on his face to be able to see Mommy at a stoplight?

May. 30, 2008 - Caleb again...

Noah was across the bedroom while Caleb and I were sitting here at the computer.  Caleb couldn't see Noah, since the bed hid him from view.  He called out, "Noooaaaah!"  No answer.  Caleb matter-of-factly says, "I think Noah's in New York."  Now imagine it Caleb style - "I think Noah's in New Yowk."

Well, it gave me the giggles anyway....

May. 28, 2008 - Caleb's Logic

Caleb has been sick with a really bad cold.  Tonight, he was sad he didn't get to go to church.  When he told me how sad he was, this is the story he told me, he is retelling it to me now to post:

"The blue blood cells was fighting with the green ones, but the green ones wanted to fight with the red ones.  But, the blue ones wanted to fight with the green ones more.  But, the green ones was terrified, cause the blue ones were big and stronger than the other ones. So, they both made friends.  The End.

I got a little of the story wrong.  Mommy, think about you are in the jungle and write jungle stories I told you.  Write about the jungle girl movie me and Emma told you about (Bindi the Jungle Girl).

Caleb got lotion from his mommy, Kelly!

Imagine that you're in the jungle with tigers and Indiana Jones shaking in a cabin.  And, you're in a cabin, too with me and Emma and Abby and Noah and Dad.  And, everybody else that we know.  And, with our family were gonna have a great time.  The End."

May. 16, 2008 - Caleb's wit and wisdom....

Today, while giving Noah a bath, Caleb and I were having a chat.  As soon as I dumped water on Noah's blonde locks, Caleb exclaimed heartily, "Oh!  His hair turns black when it's wet!!"  Now, my hair is very, very dark brown - not black.  People often confuse the two and say I have black hair.  So, a discussion began of what is truly black hair.  In the midst of this conversation, I mentioned that Grandma's hair was black, "before it started turning gray."  Caleb's nonchalant answer?  "Yeah, that's because of too much soap."
