IKES, the calendar!

Posted in Scheduling

I was just looking at our calendar for the next 6 months and thinking how it filled up SO fast!  We literally have something going every night of the week except Thursday and Friday.  WHOA.  I was determined at the beginning of the summer that we were going to keep it simple this year, and in fact . . . we were able to do that all summer, as we rested and spent quality time with friends. Now I know why the Lord allowed us to rest, because He knew we would have to be busy in this next season.

So here are some of the things we've got going:

(completed)"Take Heed" Class (1x a week for 8 weeks)
taught by our friends Harold and Shelley, which exposes the New Age and Emergent beliefs and practices that have invaded the local church and christianity. Very Eye-Opening and important for all believer's to understand how to protect their families from this end time apostasy.

Junior Bible Quiz
(1x a week until competition begins, with daily studying)
This is For dd, and is a competetive Bible program which travels to other churches a few times a year. From JBQ website description: "Children work together on teams to learn and understand the questions and answers from the Bible.  Then using cooperative competition the children meet with other teams for a fun quizzing match. There are twenty questions in a match, with two teams of quizzers trying to beat each other to the buzzers to get the first shot at the answers. It has been said that JBQ is the fastest growing discipleship program in children’s ministry."

Adult Choir & Children's Worship Team (2 times a week) with special presentation dates
This is for Mom & Pure One.

(completed) Church Membership Classes (1x a week) for 6 weeks
For Mom and Dad

LIFE GROUP (2 times a month at our friends' Jeff and Mel's house - leaders.  Click HERE to go to their blog)
We are getting together for a time of intimate fellowship and accountability with our dear friends, and whoever the Lord brings into the group.  This is an extension of our local church.

Homeschool Moms Night Out (1 x a month)
Started in August, A bunch of us (and growing) get together one time a month (with little field trips on the side forming), and hang out for just one evening with no distractions.  We try to organize creative and fun nights together just for Mom, where we can build authentic and "real" relationships with one another!  This month we are "Knitting and Felting " at Mel's Log cabin, and then having a campfire together.  It will be a beautiful time of getting to know one another better and sharing our stories. Last month we went out to a nice restaurant and relaxed by the fire (ahhh, just what the homeschool Dr. ordered).

CHURCH (2 times each week), but this is also under Choir and Jr. Bible Quiz.

Extra Ministry (1 to 2 times amonth)
Along with being committed to a local Body of Believer's, we are also committed to going into all the world and preaching the gospel, as Christ commanded. We are currently being trained and mentored for deep prophetic ministry, under the guidance of seasoned long-time veteran ministers, who have taken us under their wing, are accountable to a spiritual advisory board, and are loyally committed to walking with us in our destiny here on earth and within the Kingdom of God.  We meet with them in their home, and also minister with them once a month at conferences. Out of the deepest respect for their position in our lives, and to keep from name-dropping, we are witholding their identity at this time. Thanks for understanding.

Yep, we sure are busy for wanting to keep a quiet schedule this year - LOL.  I can only imagine how much busier it would have been if we had added the regular sports and co-op schedules in there, however . . . we have decided to take a break from those avenues for now.  We are thanking the Lord that even though our schedule is full, we feel a peace and know we are in the right places at the right time, with the right people. GOD IS GOOD!

IKES!!! Ours looks like that too. I am so glad we 'are not doing much this year' - I would be scared to see how full it could get....

Hope you are having a great year so far.

Kelly is spunky, very unconventional at times, fun to talk with, my best friend, and an incredible Mom and mentor to our dd. She is not afraid to lovingly hear from and tell people the truth when it is required, and is a true covenant friend. She is passionate about her relationship with the Lord, justice and righteousness, and you may see that in our blog. She loves people deeply, and sometimes gets hurt because of it - wearing her heart on her sleeve. Hearing her talk on the phone, laugh and have fun with her friends always makes me grin from the other room. She has great JOY!

Pure One is our 12 year old daughter, whose real name actually means "pure one." She loves Art, Dance, spending time with friends, Drama class, going to musicals and plays, playing the piano, fashion, video games (in moderation), and anything sports related. She also has a keen discernment about people and is sensitive to the Holy Spirit in a beautiful way. She has such a pure heart of worship before the Lord, and it is so inspirational to us.

"The truth is, if we claim Christ, we are never justified in being unkind, cold, indifferent, or cruel. Even if true serious sin needs to be addressed or dealt with, it should be in love, and love is kind, gentle, long-suffering, it seeks to elevate others, it is hopeful, assumes the best, etc. .."

~ Jen Igarashi in her post from June 14th, 2007 "I Wanna Be A Buffalo"

"As parent educators, we need to embrace a new notion of learning. We need to help the child discern the Lords will and equip him to answer his particular call. It is the heart and soul of the child we want to touch. For our purposes, we need to engage the heart in order to effectively educate the child. Our vision of a well-educated child is a child who has a heart for learning, a child who has the tools he needs to continue to learn for a lifetime and the love to want to do it."

~ Edith Stein

"A blessed thing it is for any man or woman to have a friend, one human soul whom we can trust utterly, who knows the best and worst of us, and who loves us in spite of all our faults."

~ Charles Kingsley

"Knowing the past about a person doesn't make us prophetic, but calling them into their future does! The question has never been, "Can we read the history of a man?" The question has always been, "Can we restore the future of a man?" Anyone can read the history of the man, but the Heart of the Father is to release the unfulfilled destiny of His broken children."

~ Denny Steyne
Mountain of Worship

"Out of defeat can come the best in human nature. As Christians face storms of adversity, they may rise with more beauty. They are like trees that grow on mountain ridges -- battered by winds, yet trees in which we find the strongest wood."

~ Billy Graham
