Thankful Thursday #5 ~ Breakin Out The List :-)

Posted in Thankful Thursdays

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This week there are quite a few things to be thankful for:

1. My hubby's new schedule rocks!  He is home by 2:30 p.m. everyday and then we choose a project each day to work on together (house or yard related) and then the rest of the evening is family time.

2. My wonderful friend Melody who makes me hysterically laugh, has such incredible creativity oozing out of her, and inspires me to dig into my creative juices that have been stagnant for far too long. We really "get" one another, and that is such a rare find.

3.  For the incredible group of homeschool Moms that are going to have Moms' Night Out tomorrow evening. No kiddos, no hubbies (although we love them dearly); just us Moms letting our hair down and enjoying one another's company.  I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for this wonderful group that He has put together, for such a time as this :-)

4.  For the joy I see on my daughter's face each day, and the new friends she has been blessed with.

5. For those "chill bump" moments that have happened this week.  Ya know the kind where the Lord lays something on your heart and you share it with someone and they say, "How did you know?"   It is that charge you get when you are hooked up to the flow of the Holy Spirit and everything beautifully falls into place.  People are healed, lives touched and tears of joy stream . . . man, it is so humbling yet life-giving.  To God be the Glory!

6.  For the simple things too: a gentle touch, a whisper of sweet-nothings, the smell of fresh cut flowers, a good book that made me laugh, a friend calling just to say she was thinking about me, and my husband's relationship with the Lord - always endearing and touching, and the beauty of my marriage. I could go on and on here. God has been so very good to us, and I am thankful for everything He has provided. I stand in awe of His grace and goodness.

7.  Oh and I cannot forget the Lord healing me this week from the terrible virus that kept me down for awhile, and keeping my hubby and dd from catching it. THANK YOU LORD!

Thankful Thursday # 4 ~ Praying The Names Of God Over Our Lives

Posted in Thankful Thursdays

I Am So Thankful For The Names of God

Lately I have been trying to focus on the Hebrew names of God, and really speak and pray them over my life.  I want to enjoy each facet of God's love, and truly know Him not only as my God (Elohim), but also as my:

El Roi ~ The God Who Sees Me, and really knows who I am; knows the number of hairs on my head, and knows all circumstances in my life; past, present and future.
El Shadday ~ God Almighty, the one who does not break covenant, and the one who says "nothing is impossible!."
El Olam ~ The God who is eternal and has no beginning and no end; His plans stand forever and are there to give us a hope and a future.  His Son is the Alpha and Omega, and His love endures forever.
Yaweh Yireh ~ The God who is able to anticipate and provide for our every need.
Yaweh ~ God redeems His chosen people, and saves us from the tyranny of sin.
Adonay ~ Lord and Master, who gives purpose for life.
Yaweh Raphe ~ The Lord who uncovers all sin and heals body, soul and spirit, and whose miracles point us to the true Kingdom.
Yahweh Nissi ~ "The Lord Our Banner," who is powerful enough to overcome any foe.
Esh Oklah, El Kanna ~ Our Consuming Fire that destroys whatever opposes holiness. Who loves us completely and demands a wholehearted response; who beckons us to purity only found in Him.
Qedosh Yisrael ~ "The Holy One of Israel," whose holiness not only encompasses His separation from evil, but His power, knowledge, justice, mercy, goodness and love.
Yaweh Shalom ~ Wholeness, Completeness, Finished Word, Perfection, Wellness, Safety, Prosperity, Health, Satisfaction, Soundness, and Harmony With Others.
Yaweh Tsebaoth ~ "The Lord of Hosts," who rules over every other power in the material world and spiritual universe. God who is so magnificent that all creation serves His purposes.
Yaweh Tsuri ~ "The Lord My Rock," who can always be counted on.
Yaweh Roi ~ "The Lord is My Shepherd," who watches over us day and night, feeding and leading us safely on the path of righteousness.
Hashem ~ "The Name, " in which we can call upon that is the name above all names.
Melek ~ "King," who watches over the whole earth, and will one day come in glory to usher in an eternal kingdom of peace and righteousness.
ISH ~ The husband of Your people Israel. The one who refuses to divorce us no matter how unfathful we are.
El Chay ~ "Living God," Maker of heavens and earth; He alone is the source of all Life.

There are so many more, and for more names of God please see the Bible, but also Ann Spangler's book titled Praying The Names of God, which is set as a daily devotional.  I am so thankful for this book which clearly shows us how to study and pray God's names over our lives.

Wow, what a beautiful new way to pray

Thankful Thursday #3 ~ Thankful For Sweet Friendships

Posted in Thankful Thursdays

It has been such a special week for me, even though it has been quiet.  We've been making preparations for the arrival of our longtime friends from Dallas, as well as Hubby's brother Ronnie.  Wow, two visiting families in one week!  When it rains it pours right?  Well I am so glad it is raining friends right now.  Speaking of friends . . . I would like to dedicate this week as a week of Thanks for sweet friendships, and here are a few to start out with:

Our dear friends Joseph and Stacey, (pictured above with their 5 children), knew we have been studying about the Colonies, so they sent us a sweet care package straight from Colonial Williamsburg filled with maps, brochures and guides.  This will go well for our notebooking.  I thought that was amazingly thoughtful to think of us while on their vacation.  What a dear couple they are!  Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK TO JOSEPH!

My longtime friend Tammy C. sent me the most beautiful, heartfelt email this week. She let me know I was a "keeper" of a friend and she loved me.  It was really touching after the year I've had, and brought me to tears.  Thank you Tammy, from one keeper to another!

To my new online friend Lisa over at The Preacher's Wife for her Bible study that is "knocking my socks off."  Thank you for the time you have taken out of your schedule to write and post this Bible study, for so many to delve deeper into the word of God. For such a time as this!

So much to be thankful for, and so little space.  There are many more friends to hug on, so I am off in person to let them know just how much they mean to me. May God bless your week with the beauty of true friendship.

Thankful Thursday #2 ~ The Power Of Being Thankful

Posted in Thankful Thursdays

There are so many, many things to be thankful for this week.  First of all to Jehovah Jireh our Provider for Providently meeting our needs in a BIG way this week.  My husband took a giant leap of faith, along with a hefty act of obedience, and we saw a true miracle in our finances.  Sometimes God tells us to do things that don't make sense to our human minds.  We try to rationalize, justify, and hold tight to the things of this world without realizing the very things we are clinging to may be the very things that are taking us down.  When my hubby let go of an important business matter, and gave it into the Lord's hands, even at the risk of us losing everything, it was then we saw God move mountains on our behalf.  We are in awe of His provision and for this new depth of faith he has graciously allowed us to walk in.  To Him be the glory, honor and praise!!

I am also thankful for my friend Dianna. She has been such a faithful friend to me for many years, and even though we live in separate states I feel so close to her in many ways.  There are just certain friendships in life that you know are very covenantal, and I have no doubt that she and I are just that.  Thank you Dianna for your friendship, encouragement and transparency.  For such a time as this!

I was just looking at my calendars of thankfulness that were started back in June, during a very heartbreaking time in my life.  As I got out of the pit and started to think about all the things God was doing in my life on a daily basis - even the little things - I started to see my thoughts and feelings change in such a big way.  The things that used to bother me stopped bothering me, and the trials I was in began to cease.  There is something to the art of thankfulness, and bringing our minds and hearts into that humble place. I truly believe as it says in Psalms 100:4, that we must "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." When we do this there is a transformation that takes place; A beautiful metamorphosis.

Are you thankful today?  If so start speaking it forth . . . declaring it out loud.  As you do . . . . watch . . . be careful . . . cause something new might just happen . . . and before you know it . . . Down come the BLESSINGS!  Whoohoooooo, thank you Lord.

Can you share just a few things you are thankful for today in my comment section. Let's bless and encourage one another, for "this is the day the Lord has made, let US rejoice and be glad in it!" (Psalms 118:24).

Thankful Thursday #1 ~ Thankful For God's Provision

Posted in Thankful Thursdays

This summer has been a definate summer of thankfulness, even though it has been difficult at times. We look at our circumstances and from a realistic standpoint shutter at the odds against us.  Starting your own company means taking risks that don't make sense, and really stepping out in faith.  This month is no exception, and we wonder how we are going to pay our mortgage and bills, yet we have such a peace that passes all understanding.  We look to our Creator - Abba Daddy, Father God and we thank YOU for your provision in every area of our lives. Whenever the enemy tries to bring depression or hopelessness across our path we stand on YOUR promises of provision and remain obedient to YOUR word, and believe that which is not yet seen will soon be manifested according to YOUR will:

Psalms 111:5
He hath given food unto them that fear him: He will ever be mindful of his covenant.

Deuteronomy 11:14-15
that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy grain, and thy new wine, and thine oil.
And I will give grass in thy fields for thy cattle, and thou shalt eat and be full.

Deuteronomy 28:12
The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

Matthew 6:33-34
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Psalm132:15
I will surely and abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.

Luke 12:24
Observe and consider the ravens; for they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn; and [yet] God feeds them. Of how much more worth are you than the birds!

Thank you Lord for your promises.  We stand and declare them over our family and believe that you are leading, guiding and directing our footsteps for provision. You are Jehovah Jireh, Our Provider.

Are you in need of a miracle regarding your finances and home-life?  Start believing and standing upon God's promises, and then be willing to put feet to His answers.  Thank Him and call upon His name . . . He will answer you and show you His salvation. (Romans 10:13)

Kelly is spunky, very unconventional at times, fun to talk with, my best friend, and an incredible Mom and mentor to our dd. She is not afraid to lovingly hear from and tell people the truth when it is required, and is a true covenant friend. She is passionate about her relationship with the Lord, justice and righteousness, and you may see that in our blog. She loves people deeply, and sometimes gets hurt because of it - wearing her heart on her sleeve. Hearing her talk on the phone, laugh and have fun with her friends always makes me grin from the other room. She has great JOY!

"The truth is, if we claim Christ, we are never justified in being unkind, cold, indifferent, or cruel. Even if true serious sin needs to be addressed or dealt with, it should be in love, and love is kind, gentle, long-suffering, it seeks to elevate others, it is hopeful, assumes the best, etc. .."

~ Jen Igarashi in her post from June 14th, 2007 "I Wanna Be A Buffalo"

"As parent educators, we need to embrace a new notion of learning. We need to help the child discern the Lords will and equip him to answer his particular call. It is the heart and soul of the child we want to touch. For our purposes, we need to engage the heart in order to effectively educate the child. Our vision of a well-educated child is a child who has a heart for learning, a child who has the tools he needs to continue to learn for a lifetime and the love to want to do it."

~ Edith Stein

"A blessed thing it is for any man or woman to have a friend, one human soul whom we can trust utterly, who knows the best and worst of us, and who loves us in spite of all our faults."

~ Charles Kingsley

"Knowing the past about a person doesn't make us prophetic, but calling them into their future does! The question has never been, "Can we read the history of a man?" The question has always been, "Can we restore the future of a man?" Anyone can read the history of the man, but the Heart of the Father is to release the unfulfilled destiny of His broken children."

~ Denny Steyne
Mountain of Worship

"Out of defeat can come the best in human nature. As Christians face storms of adversity, they may rise with more beauty. They are like trees that grow on mountain ridges -- battered by winds, yet trees in which we find the strongest wood."

~ Billy Graham
