The 2005 Social Studies Fair will be Tuesday, November 8 at 6:30pm.
It will be held at New Covenant Church in Paducah.

Deadline to sign up is Monday, October 17.

Non-PATCH members will have a $3 registration fee for 1 project or $5
per family.

The theme this year is Explorers.  Choose any person who has explored
anything.  Students are welcome to work in groups.  All ages and
ability levels are welcome.  Below you will find a list of explorers
who are already taken.

The requirements are:
1.  Prepare a display board about your chosen explorer.

2.  Prepare a brief oral presentation about your explorer.  Only ONE
MINUTE per project.  Parents, please time your students and make sure
they won't go over 1 minute.  Any longer than that and we will be
there all night!  Students may do a dramatization, dress up, be in
character, read a brief report, or whatever.

For those who don't like to speak in front of groups: 

You do NOT have to dress up, be in character, or use your whole minute
if you choose not to.  You may choose to simply say, "My name is John
Doe.  My explorer is Ferdinand Magellan.  He was the first to sail
around the world."  That would be just fine.  We just want each
student to be recognized for their work.

3.  NO LATER THAN November 1, please submit to me a year for your
explorer and two facts relevant to your explorer that can be found ON
YOUR DISPLAY BOARD.  These facts will be used in a kind of explorers
game that night so the facts you submit must be found on your board.
