The Music Man to be Presented Thursday and Friday Evenings
The Bluegrass United Academic Center production of the Broadway musical, The Music Man will be held at 7 p.m. this Thursday and Friday evenings (April 24 and 25) at First Assembly Church (corner of Pasadena Drive and Clays Mill Road.) Admission is free. This is BUAC's largest production of the year and one you will not want to miss.
This is a very funny and upbeat musical about a footloose con man who sets out to fleece a repressed Midwestern community during the early days of the twentieth century, but instead finds love (and moral responsibility) in the arms of the town's librarian. The story features a rag-tag, fast-talking group of traveling salesmen, the outrageous Pick-A-Little ladies and a bumbling group of uptight school board members who find friendship when they discover they can sing four-part harmony together. In addition, the BUAC production of the musical features 20 vocal soloists and 26 featured dancers.
Joseph Underwood, a senior from Lexington, stars in the lead/title role of Harold Hill. His love interest, Marian Paroo, is played by Amanda Beals, a senior from Nicholasville. Other major roles are played by Michael Pruitt (Winchester) and Camry Mason (Georgetown).
