Friday, January 20, 2006 Trip Name: Local Government Tour
Trip Description: Come visit the Government Center, Police Headquarters, and District Court to learn about how government functions! We will start out at the LFUCG Government Center to learn about urban county government, safety from Traffic Engineering, meet Council Members (if there are any in their offices), tour council chambers, and learn the history of the ballroom (remember, this used to be the historic Phoenix). After, we will head to Lexington Police Headquarters to tour communications, the detective area, see where suspects are detained when arrested, see the fingerprinting area, polygraph (if available) and see (not tour) the mobile command post (if available). We will then have a lunch break where you will be on your own for lunch. We will meet again at Fayette District Court to have a tour of the courthouse and learn how district court functions. If available, we may have a talk with a district court judge.
