Living Arts & Science Center

The Art of Architecture @ The Living Arts & Science Center's October Discovery Night Thursday, October 1st, 6-8 pm Discovery Program & Art Activity: Design, build, & explore the art of architecture during this fun filled, hands-on program hosted by The American Institute of Architects East Kentucky Chapter. Individuals or groups will each receive a 6x6 inch "city block" to design. At the end of the workshop, we will fit the blocks together to create our own city! Explore with us the role of the Architect, who interprets and creates our built environments, and work with professional architects to plan and create your very own structures during this hands-on Discovery Night! Work with architects Michael Sparkman and Pamela Clements from Lucas / Schwering Architects, Beverly Miller from Eastern Kentucky University Department of Design, and Meredith Yates with Gray Construction. New Discovery Exhibit: The Architecture of Life Explore life in a new way- by looking beneath the surface in our new hands-on Discovery Exhibit! Find out what bones, skeletons, buildings, and bridges have in common by looking at the structure and function of animals, plants, and man-made structures! Climb inside an armadillo exoskeleton, compare the structures of animals as you view amazing skulls and skeletons. Dream up an architectural design all your own at the drafting table or on the computer. Take a bike ride with a human skeleton, and much more!
