Outdoors and Nature Notebooks

Since my kids are outside exploring and discovering nature often and daily;
I thought...'we don't need nature notebooks or journals!'
On the contrary!
 We do need them!  Why?
It's their thoughts and ideas and pictures and words from their own eyes.
(Not mine, taken with my camera,)
Their ideas, put into their own notebooks,
using their creative abilities, that will be kept and treasured.
What was I waiting for!?
So...now on with the production!
First I spotted these beautiful folders at Walmart! Perfect!
(This was great! I've been watching all these school shoppers
and didn't have a thing to buy!)
(Hey...it's frugal being a homeschooler!)
Next I cut them and punch holes with my binder.
I had this beautiful paper from scrapbooking.
I printed out some lines and punched holes.

I added some plastic sleeves in the back.
Bind it all together.
These are our Nature Notebooks!

No prompting with these guys!   They're naturals!
   Hey! I LIKE this, too!

Keri,
Love those nature noteboooks. Thank you so much for sharing.
I mentioned you in my blog today, and linked to your wonderful notebook posts. I just had to mention your notebooks as I am planning on making those for my blessings this weekend as well. I had made one for copy work this sping and they work well and I love them. Plus, I have had an extreme attachment to the comb binder since working at the local public school district before having the blessings. Enjoy the weekend.

Those are beautiful. I saw those folders yesterday at WM, but my mind would never have come up with that great idea. Where did you buy your binder?
I can't wait until it cools off a little to be back out at the picnic table. Marissa is so hot natured, she can't stay out long. We love the spring and fall, and do most of our book work and reading out at the picnic table and deck swing.

What a great idea with the folders! I never would've thought to do that. I often see really cool folders that we have absolutely no use for... our schooling requires binders, people! But that...very cool. AND another reason to use my comb binder!

These books are beautiful and so is the drawing of the flower!

I had to laugh about it being frugal when you're a homeschooler. I look at the school supplies with longing too. It looks so fun - but we don't need them. :(
