I picked STAR TREK because it was recommended by Richard J. Maybury
in his book; "Evaluating Books" (more about him and his books in the following post.)
Here is what he writes:
"STAR TREK is well thought out and places great emphasis on the need for logic and evidence."
The "Prime Directive" which is a centerpiece of the STAR TREK world, is straight from original American principles. All the starship's crewmembers voluntarily take an oath to obey this rule which forbids them to encroach on others.
We were HUGE trekkie fans when I was growing up. Captain Kirk was a household name. LOL. The kids still watch it with my dad when they stay with him *grin*
