Movies: A Comedy and a Tragedy

Posted in Family Movies

The Taming of the Shrew
I thoroughly enjoyed this!
The 'moon-sun' scene is funny and
Elizabeth Taylor delivers a fantastic 'submission' speech' at the end.
I considered nothing in it objectional for children.
Hamlet
I thought Mel Gibson played the part of Hamlet very well.
I enjoyed this movie as well.
My two younger kids lost interest and went to bed early.
There is an objectional kiss
between Hamlet and his mother.

Teaching the Trivium

How can you give your children the tools they need to teach themselves? Long ago students were first taught how to learn. Today, students are taught an encyclopedia of subjects – trivia – but they are not taught the basic skills of learning: to discover, to reason, and to apply.
