Art Enjoyment

Photobucket
I'd like to share my plan for Art Enjoyment.
Photobucket
These are my favorite books to use.
Photobucket  Photobucket
Each book presents twelve paintings and gives information on the artist and his works.
(We go through one book in about three weeks.)
Photobucket
We read and discuss one painting each day.
(This takes about fifteen minutes.)
Photobucket Photobucket
Then the kids place a 4x6 photo (and write the title) in their Art Enjoyment album.
This last step makes it 'their own'... gives them possesion of it!

I am teaching a "Meet the Masters" class next year and I think this idea would be a wonderful addition to my little curriculum. :) You are an amazing teacher Keri. You kids look like they are having a blast too. :)

This looks great!! Where do you get all the 4 x 6 photos so that each child has their own copy? Do you take a digital photo of each page in the book and print it??

Inquiring minds want to know :-)

I haven't seen these books before. Thank you for introducing them? Where do you get the photos for your children's book? Do you just get prints made?

Peace to you,

I like those books, too! I've not used them very much but found them very interesting when I did.

I just read your bio and it said you have a grandchild. For some reason, I picture you as being in your 30's with long blonde hair. (It must be all the beach pictures.) Anyways, I just thought it was funny how we get things in our heads. Of course, I guess you could still have a grandchild and be in your 30's. :)

Happy day,
Elisabeth

I can never seem to fit in as much artist study as I'd like. But this looks do-able.
I'll have to check and see if my library has that series. I don't think I've seen them before.
And I love the album idea...where do you get your 4x6's?
Thanks for sharing this!

I love this post! Why? It's so practical and shows just how easy and short artist study can be! Thanks for the tip on the books. I've seen those titles but never the covers.
And like other commenters, I'd like to know about your 4x6 prints. Do you copy those from the printer? Make photos? Does the child choose one from each artist or each and every painting you study?

Thank you for sharing your idea! That is a simple time saving manageable one I can handle and fits into the Charlotte Mason methods I try to follow without taking too much of my time to find pictures to study. I will have to get those little books. I too love the album idea.
