Well, it has been a while. I know y'all missed me, lol. But now I am back.
Here is a pic of me, since the others didn't work (this is why I said I could kick Cereal's friend's butt, lol) No scraping out your eyes, it isn't alowed.

Hope the pic looks ok for everyone.
Things have been going well with my job, I opened a savings account, and in about a month and a half I will have enough for an X-box 360 ( I know, envy me).
After that I will save up for a car (have I mentioned that I aced the learners license test?).
But altogether things are going well.

Well, I have a job. I am now an employee of Jack's. Today was my first day, I worked from 1:00-4:00. I will work the same hours wednesday and friday, and will work 7:00 am- 2:00 or 3:00 pm on saturday.
Mostly I just learned how to run the cash register, and made up drinks for the drive-through. I was pretty interesting, but my feet are killing me, I have to get some better shoes.
Here is me in my bona-fide Jacks uniform.

Ain't I cute?
Anyways, G'night.

Well, my brother has left for college, he will be studying aero space engineering.
I envy him in some ways, such as he is on his own and away from home; but I really don't envy him all the math he is having to do. Gah, I detest math, which is why I am planning on a math light major when i go to college. At the moment I am looking into Biology with a concentration in natural history. I could do that and earn my naturalist degree. But I still have a year untill I need to start focusing totally on college. Right now I am still haveing trouble with finding a job.
I am supposed to call back about one tomorrow, so please pray for me.
Well, it is late and my mom is bugging me.
Goodnight,
Kestrel.

Aug. 5, 2006 Friends, movies, and slashed tires.
Well, I haven't been on very much, and for that I am sorry. But things have been very busy lately. I went to stay the night with a couple of friends of mine; we played games, went swimming, and to the mall. And last night before they took me home we went to see the movie "Talladega Nights", and when we came out of the movie, at about 9:00, a cop told us our tires and the tires of the car next to us had been slashed. In the car next to us were about 6 high-school to college age guys, and they had about 3-4 friends in another car. So they helped us put on the spare, and followed us with the cop to the gas station to air the other tire up (we weren't sure if they had been slashed, or if the air had just been let out of them.), and they took the spare off again, only to realize that the tire really had been slashed, so they had to put it back on again. But we ended up just all hanging around chatting, and joking for 2 or 3 hours. It was actually really fun (except for my friends anoying little sister, who ran screaming all over the place); us young people even got the cop, and my friends mom joking around about breaking and entering, and chasing the people who popped the tire down. Of course I didn't have to worry about the tire so that probably contributed to my enjoyment. But it was more interestin g than I expected.
Well my dad keeps hinting that I need to go to bed, so good night.

Ok, well I had to volunteer this morning. I was helping out with the summer reading program finale for this year. They had me get at the top of the huge (must have been like at least 1-2 storys tall) water slide, and direct the kids so that no more than one went down at a time. Even though I hadn't realized I was going to get wet and wore jeans, it was a whole lot of fun. I was soaked from head-to-toe by the time it was over. The best part of all was when somone snagged the electrical cord and the thing de-flated; I saw that it was a little flabby, than that the pump had stopped, so I pushed the girl down one slide, and I jumped down the other. By the time we hit the bottom we were neck deep in water and the rubber roof was down on our heads. That was great. Haha, I was like " I want to do it again!". I was hoping somone else would trip and knock it loose. Well, that was my day.

Jul. 19, 2006 Friends, Movies, and Needles.
Well today wasn't exactly as interesting as it was supposed to be. Mom usually has her food group thingy every wednesday, but it was delayed because this morning she found out her food provider was in the hospital for several serius health problems. So my friends (daughters of one of mom's food group people) didn't show up. But luckly I will see them next wednesday, and we (them and me) will be going to see "Talladega Nights" together. What is funny, is they want to go see the movie the at night, in Talladega. Since Talladega is the setting, I am guessing it will be packed, so we will need to go a bit early. But it should be great because they are the first real friends I have had in a while, and this is only the second movie I have ever been to with my own friends, and not family; plus the first movie was with them too. Well I am going to stop blabbing about that now, and get on to the "needles" part. One of my older brothers and I were supposed to go get some sort of shot at the doctors today, did I mention I hate needles?, it is a three time thing, we will get it done three times, each several weeks apart. We ended up postponing it untill the first of august (luckly). My problem isn't the pain, it is knowing that it is coming, waiting there knowing it is going to happen. I could have my finger slashed to the bone, and it not bother me as much as haveing blood drawn, simply because I know the needle is coming, I have time to worry and wonder about how much it will hurt. The cut just happens, the suprise of it happening kind of numbs the pain. But anyways, just thinking of getting stuck with a needle bothers me more that the thought of getting shot. Ugh!
Well, I hope everyone likes the chat box ^_^ .
Goodnight,

Jul. 14, 2006 Yes yes, I know, I am late.
I know I have missed a week or so, but things have been rather hecktic. An Aunt has died, and that entails finding clothes, and get the funeral set up properly. I wasn't helping set up the funeral of course, that was my Dad's thing, but I did have to find clothing (I don't exactly keep a stock of "girlie" clothing on hand), and everyone was going back and forth. But things are just starting to normalize now, and we have all had a good chance to sit back and take a breather.
I am still looking for work, I need a job badly. I am hoping, really hoping, that the boss at the animal shelter will hire me when I go in tomorrow. Oh that would be wonderfull, I need a job so bad!
I have heard ( from my mom ) that some of the homeschool parents in my area are sitting up a homeschool "Prom" for next spring. I had to point out that most of us homeschoolers (at least in my experiance) don't know many other homeschoolers their age, so how are they supposed to get a date. Also my family (I don't know about other familys) tends to be a bit anti-social. Has any one on here ever had a "homeschool Prom"? I don't know any homeschoolers in my area really, at least none that would think of inviting me, but I am trying to remedy that by getting my mom to take me to the little homeschool meetings in the park every week; I will still probably end up going with one of my brothers if I go at all though. Ah well, sleepy time.
Goodnight everyone,
Kestrel.

Jul. 7, 2006 Happy Independance Day!
I hope everyone had a good Independence day. I know we did, we grilled, shot off bottle rockets & firecrackers, and went to the big display, which was awsome.
I have also enjoyed Tennis, which unfortunately was canceled yesterday, and swimming. Also our kitty cat is acting like he feels better, which is great. So thanks everyone! =^-^= We are going to pick berries this morning, so I need to go check out some other things before we go. Hope everyone is doing well.

Jun. 29, 2006 Long time, no post.
Sorry I have not written in a while, but my cousins have been around and I have been hanging out with them. Hopefully we will be going to see "Click", at the theatre tomorrow, it looked really funny. I also did really good on tennis today, the instructer said "perfect" more than usual. I am also planning on taking in my application when I volunteer at the animal shelter, saturday. I don't think Jacks is going to hire me because I won't work sundays. This is going to be a short post because I am worried about my cat. He is acting really wierd, and I am afraid he might have got into some poisen, please pray for him.
Well, G'night people.

I'm back! I had a great time at tennis, and enjoyed visiting with my Grandma.
She also informed me that my well-to-do aunt with good taste (usually), had ordered me a B-day present, but that is would get here on the 29th, which is three days after my B-day. I can't believe I will be 16 tomorrow. Oh, I can't wait!
My cousins will also be getting here tomorrow. They are going to bring their X-box, so we can lan, and fight each other on Halo. Also my oldest brother gave me his old cd-player, and a pretty bracelet with mother-of-pearl (I think) in it.
And my second oldest brother bought me a cool knit poncho type thing.
I amhaving lots of fun! Well goodbye for now.

Jun. 20, 2006 Next few days.
Good morning everyone. It would be nice if everyone would pray for me. I gave an application in at Jacks, and they interviewed me. The only problem they had was with me not wanting to work Sundays. And because of that I may not get the job. I won't hear back about it untill I turn 16 though. I really hope I get it.
Also for the next couple of days, untill about Saturday, I probably won't post any because I will be staying with my Grandma (who doesn't have a computer).
But on Sunday my two cousins will be arriving, so that will be a whole lot of fun. Well I will write back later. Goodbye!

Jun. 18, 2006 Yesterday, Today, and my Birthday.
Yesterday we went to my cousin's B-day, he turned 4. It was pirate themed so everyone was wearing little hats and bandanas. It was pretty funny. And after we left Dad decided he wanted to go to a creek nearby that they used to take my older brothers to when they were little. It was a real neat place, and my brother ended up just hopping into the creek, so I did to, and we both had a good swim in our clothes. That was a whole lot of clothes. And then when I got home my brother let me play Halo live with him, as his guest. So I had a great day. This afternoon we all plan to go swimming at the lake, so today looks good too. Man I can't wait for my Birthday, it is only eight days away, so close I can almost touch it. Meh. Well I am getting off. Goodbye.

Jun. 16, 2006 Deleted post re-done.
Ok, here is the story that got deleted the other day, I now have the time to do it over.
The Evil Neighbor Lady
Que the organ!
Ok, our neighbor (we will call her "Miss Matie") Has lived in her house for about twenty years, and she has somewhat of a "owns it all" mentality. Her house is back-to-back with our house, our fence against her yard. Our house is hemmed in on two sides by houses (her's included), on another by a small front yard and the road, and on the third is our fence and about a six foot wide strip of land before you get to the road. She believes the "strip", as we will now call it, is city property (if it is than her flower-bed and mail-box are city property too). Well since it is "city property",as she says, she believes she can dump her junk over there, right along the side of our land. We have already had a confrontation with her over that.
Now, getting down to the reason for this story. Mom ordered some day-lily bulbes from Gurney's seed catalog,we planted most of them along the "strip",and a few in a little flower bed out front. They grew good and some of them had just bloomed, while some others were about to. They were beautiful, some were a nice crimson color, others were white. Well one day I hear all the dogs barking, so I go out on the back porch to see what all of the noise is about, and guess what I see? Over on the other side of the fence somone is leaning over Mom's flowers, I couldn't see who it is, and I thought it was probably just somone smelling the flowers or somthing. But I go back in and tell Mom about it, and of course she goes to check it out. It was none other than Miss Matie, and she was digging up Mom's flowers! Mom asked her what she thought she was doing, and she said that she thought that somone had just left them there (yeah right, in a perfect row. ); and when Mom explaind that no, she had bought and paid for them, and planted them herself, Miss Matie fell back on her "Oh but it is city property" theme. She finely just told Mom that she would re-plant them, and she did....somewhat. All she really did was stick them far enough in the ground so that they would stand up. But after she left,me and Mom went out, and while I re-planted the flowers correctly, Mom put up a no-trespassing sign. I think most of the flowers will make out ok, at least I hope so. Although I get the feeling she might be out there throwing chicken bones over the fence for our dogs.
Anyways, that is the story I wrote (with a few gramatical changes) that got deleted the other day. Bah,it was long. Hope y'all enjoy reading my rantings. Heh.

Jun. 15, 2006 Job Pros, and Cons.
I volunteered at the Animal Shelter again today, it was hard work. I have the choice of either working there, or working at Jacks. I know most people would say the Animal Shelter is way better compared to working at a fast food resturaunt.
Here is a quik list of the pros, and cons.
For Jacks:
It is a five minute walk from my house.
I would work more hours.
My brother works there.
It is more in my line of work (namely cooking).
There is more of a likely-hood that I might make friends, as most of the people working there are my aged (everyone at the Animal Shelter are like 20 and over)
For The Animal Shelter:
I would feel like I was really helping out with somthing.
It would probably be better on my resume.
It is probably somewhat more interesting than Jacks.
I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. If I do work at Jacks, I have promised that I will still volunteer at the Animal Shelter on Saturdays. I am still not sure though, but the boss at the Animal Shelter was making me feel bad today because he was like " You are planning on working here aren't you?"; and Mom was kind of leaning towards it too. I just don't know. If anyone has some advice I would love to hear it. But where-ever I work I know one thing I am going to do, and that is get a membership at the Rec Center so I can lift weights, play B-ball, and use the biking and running machines. Well g'night everyone!

Jun. 12, 2006 Other things.
Two weeks until my Birthday! I can't wait, when I turn 16 I can get a job (I already have two strong possibilities). I think I would rather work at Jacks, since it is just down the hill, and I could work more hours. But I would still volunteer every week at the animal shelter. I just don't want to work there.
I am getting some exercise everyday, I usually walk to the library (that is were I am now), which is about a mile there and back; and I also go for about a 3/4 of a mile walk almost every afternoon. So I think I am losing weight. Which is a very good thing. I hate being chubby. Well I have to go. I will write more later.

Jun. 11, 2006 Defense bill.
Yesterday night two of my brothers, and I had a blast killing each other on Halo. I actually did a good bit of snipeing, and I can't wait till I get a job, so perhaps I can save for my own X-box.
Well, enough about the game. Has anyone heard about the Bill that the Alabama house is trying to pass? It is to protect homeowners who use deadly force to protect their home.
I personally am for it, if somone tried to break into my house I wouldn't think twice about defending it. Here is an article from the "Montgomery Advertiser" about it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deadly force bill goes on House firing line
By John Davis Montgomery Advertiser
|
The Alabama House will try to pass a bill that expands the criteria for when a person can use deadly force to protect a home or vehicle.
The strengthened deadly force bill is on today's agenda as the Legislature returns to Montgomery after a week off.
The bill would provide immunity from civil suits and criminal charges to people forced to kill intruders they believe are trying to harm them. That protection would extend to people who use deadly force in protecting occupied vehicles and any building where people sleep at night.
House Republicans, angered that the Senate Judiciary Committee hasn't acted on a measure to make killing a fetus murder in certain instances, held up the deadly force legislation sponsored by Sen. Larry Means, D-Attalla. The GOP caucus dropped that tactic earlier this month but that doesn't mean the bill is sure to pass.
Black lawmakers also have complained the bill would allow people to shoot people who accidentally walk into their yards or who come to the door because their car has broken down.
"I'm not going to vote for it," said Speaker Pro Tem Demetrius Newton, D-Birmingham. "Our district attorney swears it's a bad bill."
The deadly force bill has the backing of the National Rifle Association, which is pushing for more permissive shooting laws nationwide, something it has dubbed the "Castle Doctrine."
On March 15, the NRA called on members to pressure Alabama lawmakers to pass Means' bill.
"The members of the House are refusing to take a vote on the bill because of unrelated political motivations, resulting in your right to self-defense being put on hold," said the group's Web site, www.nra.org. "Your state representative needs to hear from you."
Ronald Jackson, executive director of the Birmingham-based advocacy group People United, has been trying to stir up opposition to the deadly force bills in the House and Senate. He says the proposed law would make Alabama look like a "redneck, Yazoo state with gun-toting vigilantes." |
I personally think most out-of-staters allready think that of us.
So what do y'all think?
